The only thing worse than having Harry be mad at Zayn at a time like this is being home alone the next two weeks. He was sort of hoping that having Chanel away on her commercial shoot would give him the opportunity to be with Harry more without disruption and he was sure Harry was so excited when he first brought it up because he was thinking the same thing.
But now because of what's currently happening in their relationship, that excitement is gone. And so while Zayn sits alone in his own home, Harry more than likely sits alone in his.
When it comes to Zayn, everything about him is related in a way. For example, Zayn loves reading romance books because they bring out all the emotions that make him feel soft inside. A little sadness, a little happiness and joy... And it's the same with why he watches sad movies. He likes to be reminded that he's sensitive and that he's okay with crying in front of people whether he knows them well or not.
So when he's sad about something or hurt, he's so comfortable with those feelings that he tends to wallow in them as well. And he will do so as long as there is no one pushing him to move on. So really, that was sort of what drew him to Chanel in the first place. She has always loved that he was a bit soft. But at the same time, she was always the sort of person who moved on from things. She just didn't ever try to change him from who he was. Not then. However, Zayn is beginning to think that isn't necessarily the case anymore.
To be frank, it was never Zayn's thought process that he could possibly be being manipulated. After all, this woman loves him and he loves her. But Harry has implanted the thought in his mind and now that the whole situation with the dog happened, he is starting to worry that she loves his softer and trusting personality as much as she does because that makes him easier to trick into conforming to her standards without him knowing. If so, then that is hurtful. Although maybe not as hurtful as her finding out he's been sleeping with their neighbor for the last eight months.
Today he has a wardrobe appointment at Vêtements. Which is the French word for clothing. But this place is rather expensive and high quality. It's the type of place where customers get a stylist and are led to a private dressing room the second they walk in the door. It's not really for Zayn but Chanel loves this place so it's also her suggestion.
She is the one who made his appointment and then justified it by telling him if he gets himself a new wardrobe then his entire attitude will change and he'll understand what she means. He specifically remembers her telling him he could do his own thing while she was away. But the fact that he's here today proves she didn't truly mean that.
Zayn likes being himself. It's important to him. And those values are why he doesn't give in to society's standards of masculinity when it comes to how he responds to certain situations or embraces and expresses certain emotions. But he also doesn't like trouble with the people he loves and cares about. So sometimes he's more willing to give in when they ask something of him even if he doesn't particularly like it.
That's why he shows up to Vêtements on time. He knows that she created the appointment through her own account with them, which means if he misses his appointment, the company will send her an email and tell her that the appointment was missed. If that happens, she'll call and fuss at him and then after she's gotten upset, her trip and her whole experience overseas might be ruined and he'll have to hear about it when she gets back. He doesn't want to deal with that.
"Welcome to Vêtements." The store clerk greets as soon as Zayn walks in. "Are you browsing or do you have an appointment?"
"I have a three o'clock appointment."
"Name, please."
"Zayn Malik."
He can tell by the way she looks at his current outfit that she doesn't think he can afford anything here. But he ignores it as she searches for him in the computer.
