(Jessica's POV)

What the heck is going on? High school was a big, fat lie. My most serious relationship was a lie. I sat down and started crying. How could he do this to me? I love him. Wait, what? I love him? As in, present tense? No, no, no. I can't still have feelings for him. He broke my heart. The back door slammed as someone walked in. Is Nate that stupid? Did he actually follow me inside? I silently make my way towards the back door to see who it is.

"Jess,"a familiar voice said,"I'm back. Where are you?"

"Is that you Lana?"I asked.

"Yes, you silly goose,"Lana said,"Now will you get your butt in here so I can talk to you?"

"Yeah, sorry,"I said walking into the kitchen.

Big mistake. Not only was Lana standing there, but five other wolves were also there. They looked a little nervous as they stood there watching her. A look of uncertainty clouded their vision. That was when I knew why they were here. Nate was calling all the shots. Whereas I owe him my life for not killing me when I challenged him, I don't want to be his servant.

"Let me guess,"I said,"Your Alpha sent you."

"I'm so sorry, Jessica,"Lana said,"I didn't have a choice. Alpha said you are his son's mate."

"Wait, what?"I said,"Nate isn't the alpha here?"

"No,"a blond guy said,"Alpha Nate is his son. He will be alpha in a few months. He is still under training."

"This can't be happening,"I sighed," Wait, did you say that I'm the Alpha's son's mate?"

"Yes,"Lana said.

"I can't be,"I said,"I would have felt it five years ago when I graduated from high school. I would have felt it when I dated him. I would have felt it when his parents made him say goodbye. I would have felt it when I grew up with him."

"Say what?"Lana said shocked,"This is the same Nate you were telling me about? The one who broke up with you on graduation day? The one you haven't seen in five years?"

"Yes,"I said.

Everyone was silent as they looked at each other. I looked at the ground and sighed. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I wouldn't have felt it back then. I mean, I did think I was in love with him. If I really am his mate, then why did he leave me all those years ago? Ugh, I need to get away from here for a little while. I need to clear my head.

"I'm sorry,"I said.

I put up a barricade and ran out the front door. I raced towards my car, but before I could get there, someone tackled me to the ground. I tried to fight back using magic, but before I could, I heard a low, menacing growl. The soon to be alpha is here, and I can't disobey him. Trust me, I tried.

***
(Nate's POV)

I didn't want to have to use my alpha voice on her, but I couldn't let her leave. She is my mate. My one true love. I wish I could have done this without controlling her. Now I am going to have to earn her trust before I can get her to accept me as her mate. It's her fault really. If she would just grow up and act like the Luna she will be one day, I could just be worried about her accepting me.

"Where do you want us to put her, Alpha?"a blue-black haired guy asked.

"My room,"I said,"She won't run."

"Are you sure?"He asked,"She could jump out of a window. Are you willing to take that chance?"

"No,"I said,"I guess we'd better bar up the windows in there to be safe, though. Get someone on that."

"Will do,"He said.

I watched as he walked away to carry out my orders. If there was another way to get her to accept me, I would have tried it. It pains me to think that she wants to reject me. I love her. Why can't she see that? Right now, I'm wondering why the moon goddess chose her to be my mate. It just doesn't make any sense. We are so different from each other. Although we are different, she is still my other half. Somehow the moon goddess knew exactly what she was doing when she chose everyone else's mate. So what was she thinking when she chose mine? Jessica hates me for some unknown reason. I just wish she would tell me why she hates me.

"Hello? Earth to Nate,"a sickeningly high voice said.

"What?"I asked,"Oh, hey, Callie. What do you want?"

"Is that any way to treat your girlfriend?"Callie said rubbing my arm.

"You're not my girlfriend,"I said,"I found my mate. Since you are not my mate, you better stop touching me. I don't want to be with you. I never did."

"Oh, Nate,"Callie said laughing,"You are so funny."

"I'm not joking, Callie,"I said,"You better leave my mate and I alone, or you will no longer belong to this pack. Understand?"

"Yes,"Callie said.

"And start calling me Alpha,"I said,"I haven't given you permission to call me anything other than that."

"Yes, Alpha,"Callie said.

She turns and leaves the pack house as I go into my office. I sat down and put my head in my hands. How did my life get this complicated? It seems like just yesterday I was quarterback of the football team and dating the head cheerleader.(If you hadn't guessed, that was Jessica.)

"Alpha?"Kyle, my future beta, yelled running into my office.

"What is it, Kyle?"I asked with a sigh.

"She's escaped,"Kyle said, slightly out of breath.

"Who's escaped?"I asked, not wanting to hear what I knew he was going to say.

"Jessica,"Kyle said,"She beat up thirty of our best fighters in two minutes. We didn't stand a chance."

"Where is she?"I asked.

"We don't know,"Kyle replied,"She said something in Latin and then disappeared. We think it was a transportation spell."

"Where did she go?"I asked.

"I'm not sure,"Kyle said.

"What are you saying?"I asked a little upset.

"She's gone, Alpha,"Kyle said.

I growled and immediately lost the battle to my wolf. Transforming, I ran across the room and jumped out of the window. Ok, so I was more than a little upset. I am just simply pissed off. They lost my mate and it's all my fault.
