Several Hours Earlier
"Don't look yet!" Evelyn yelled desperately at me, but I could hear the smile in her voice.
I chuckled, shaking my head as I leaned against the railing of the balcony. She was adamanet about surprising me with her dress. I didn't mind whether or not I was suprrised, but it did matter to me that the girl was happy. This seemed to make her happy. The sun was starting to set, as was tradition for these ceremonies. As soon as the sun sunk behind the trees, I would introduce her and food and drinks would be served. Usually my pack members or any other guests would come and meet and/or congratulate us for several hours. There would also be dancing and music, but usually figures like Evelyn and I wouldn't participate. We would just watch.
"We are going to be late, puppy," I warned her.
"J-just one second."
I could hear her dress rustling behind me and I could picture her adjusting the fabric to try and look perfect for me. I appreciated how much she cared, but I wish she knew it wasn't necessary.
Evelyn took a deep breath. "Alright. I'm ready."
When I turned around, I had to hold in a curse at the sight of her glowing face. The dress, I couldn't care less about. It was her face that meant the world to me. She was glowing. The stylist I ordered for her had done her job well - only lightly accentuating her natural features that I had come to care for so deeply. There was a mole under Evelyn's left eye that I just adored and it wasn't covered with concealer. The rest of her freckles, which became more obvious with each day she spent in the sun, were still visible. Her bright eyes were shining and I couldn't help but let my gaze fall to her sweet little lips, one of which was currently stuck between her teeth. I wanted nothing more than to kiss away the nerves evident on her face.
"Do you like it?"
"You look beautiful, as always."
She put her hands on her hips. "I'm supposed to look more beautiful, mister. That's the whole point."
I rolled my eyes playfully, stepping closer to catch her chin, brushing my finger over her now-pursed bottom lip. "Evelyn, you are stunning. Each day I grow more attached to you. But you know you do not have to dress up for me to find you attractive. I like you naked, I like you in pretty dresses."
Pressing a kiss to her lips, I finally took in her dress. "This was worth the wait. You designed it beautifully."
Evelyn surprised me by grabbing my face and pulling me in for another kiss. Usually, I was the one who initiated affection like kissing. If she wanted to kiss, all she had to do was purse her lips a little. Never had she just grabbed me. My wolf growled appreciatively at her gruffness, my arms wrapping around her back to pull her body flush to mine.
We kissed for a few moments. The little wolf was trying to keep up and maintain control for as long as possible, her soft lips pursuing mine. But as I adjusted the pressure to be more deep and started to trace my tongue on the seam of her lips, I sensed her grow nervous and unsure. Before I could address it, someone cleared their throat.
"Sire, it is time," one of the organizers mumbled, head turned away from the two of us.
"Thank you," I told him. "We will be right up."
Evelyn was blushing madly, touching her lips with the tips of her fingers while smiling shyly up at me. "One more for the road," I whispered, ducking my head to steal one last kiss. "Are you ready?"
