"Happy birthday, sweetie!" My dad exclaimed behind my bedroom door.
I got up from my still messy room, and walked over to the door. I opened the door and my dad was standing there with a small box wrapped in white wrapping paper.
"Hey dad," I said.
"I got you something, I know it's not much, I haven't been making much money since your mother left, so this was all I could get,"
I took the box from his hands, "Thank you, dad," I reached over and hugged him real tight.
"Open in," He gestured towards the box.
I carefully started to rip the wrapping paper, and opened the box. Inside lay a beautiful silver necklace with my name carved into the silver plate.
"It was all I could get, I hope you like it sweetie,"
"Dad, I love it, I'll wear it everyday." I hugged him tightly again.
"Now, if I heard correctly, you're going to a party tonight,"
"Yeah, I'll drive myself, and I'll be home before midnight,"
My dad sighed, "I shouldn't even be letting you leave, tonight's a school night — and what if that murderer is still out there after you?"
"I'll make sure I have Becca escort me home."
"Okay, be safe sweetheart, you know I love you,"
"I know, I love you too," I smiled.
My dad turned away from the door.
"I'll leave you to it then, the party will be starting soon," he said.
"Ill cya later," I replied, and closed the door.
I opened the box again, and went to my vanity. I did the technique where you put the necklace on backwards and switch it to the front once you clasp it. The necklace was beautiful, and I couldn't get over the personalization he put into the necklace. It must have been even more expensive to get it personalized, Chantelle isn't a super common name to find at a gas station key chain rack.
I looked out my window, and it was already sunset. I went to my closet and picked out a casual dress. The dress I chose was a skinny yellow dress that was form fitting, and fell about mid-thigh. I put on some rings and hoop earrings. I took out my hair from the messy ponytail I had it in all day at school, and put some product into it to make it fluffier, and I let it go naturally.
When I met Ben yesterday, I couldn't think straight the whole day. I don't know why either! I already have a boyfriend — granted, I was going to break up with him — but that's not the point.
I saw Ben today in the back of the classroom again in English. I tried not to stare at him, but that didn't keep my mind from wandering and fantasizing. I don't even remember what happened today, it was all a blur. The occasional "Happy Birthday" wishes, getting called on by the teacher and proceeding with getting embarrassed because I didn't know the answer. I hope that he would be at the party, then maybe I can talk to him like a normal person
I finished getting ready with some light makeup. I put on a base of foundation, concealer, and locked it in with some setting powder. I finished it off by putting a slightly darker shadow in my crease and did my eyebrows, and for the cherry on top I put on some mascara, and a little lip gloss.
I'm really only doing this for John, he said I didn't look good without makeup, and I needed to fix my insecurities with makeup. I don't know why I listen to him anymore, I listened to him when we first started dating, but I have come to my senses now, and realized that I shouldn't listen to him anymore.
