Chapter Fourteen

~ Kaine's P.O.V~

I couldn't wrap my head around the turn events that had taken place in the short span of a few hours. I thought for sure given what Id admitted to Rayne in my office, that I had ruined any and all chances with her. Yet she gave me a chance to more or less defend myself, despite being terrified of me at first. I didn't know how we went from me pleading to even have five minutes of her time, to having sex, but I wouldn't complain. It was amazing sex, something on a whole new level for me and apparently for her too.

I was quite shocked when she revealed that she hadn't been intimate in a while. With a body like hers, who would be crazy enough to not want her? Despite my best efforts, the scene just kept playing on a loop over and over in my head. The way she tasted, the way she moaned and how she felt. She was beautiful in every way and I wanted her to want me as much as I did her.

With a few blinks, I focused back on the task at hand. Getting downstairs for a meeting with my closest men. Jax had said he had something important to discuss. The sooner this meeting was over, the sooner I could get back to the woman Id just left. I had no doubt shed be fast asleep by the time I rejoined her in bed. Once I made it to the last step, I veered left in the direction of my home office.

Approaching the opened door, I could spot all of the guys sitting in the chairs lining the lengths of the long table centered in the spacious room. Everyone was quietly talking amongst themselves about nothing in particular, but grew silent upon my entrance. I took my place at the head of the table with a tired sigh.

Sorry for the hold up, guys. I wanted to make sure my guests were completely settled in for the night. I started, which earned me a few snickers in response. I raised an eyebrow questioningly, as looked around at the faces of each man.

With all the sounds we heard coming from upstairs, Im sure you put her right to sleep. Jax laughed, give me a single pat on the shoulder. The others chimed in with chuckles of their own. I rolled my eyes at the childish remark, clearing my throat.

Not like you haven't done the same thing in this house, grow up. Now, back to the reasons for this impromptu meeting. Everything handled with Zeke?

All taken care of, boss. As of a few hours ago, there is no record of him ever existing. Bodys been disposed of like usual. Jax answered. I looked at Nico for confirmation and he silently nodded. For a hacker, he was the best in the world. I knew if he said Zeke no longer existed, I believed him.

Gio, how is the restaurant doing? I asked my cousin and close friend.

All good boss, things are progressing as they should and we should be opening within the month. Gio responded, his curly brown hair brushing the tops of his shoulders. I leaned forward, resting my elbows on the table in front of me with my hands clasped in front of my mouth.

Any security breaches as of late, Marco?

No, sir. So far, so good. Theres been no action at any of the warehouses.

At all? I questioned, furrowing my brows.

Nothing, no breaches anywhere.

Stay alert, its been too quiet. I wouldn't be surprised if something happens in the next few days. I ordered, and he nodded. His blue eyes were determined and his jaw set. Five years ago, I would've never expected to have him in my inner circle, but I was glad now. Hed proven to be a great asset with his law enforcement background.
