"I'm ready, Daddy. I wanna pick it now."

"I know." Zayn helped Liam out of his car seat and stood him on the ground.

He closed the door and took Liam's hand. Harry was waiting for them at the front of the car so they met him there and he took Zayn's hand. Then the three of them walked over to a table where a man with a nice white beard was standing and ushering them over.

"Hello. Welcome to our Christmas tree farm. How are you?" He greeted with a wide smile.

"Great. Thank you." Zayn answered for them all.

"Good to see you. I hope you can find the perfect tree today and I want you to know we have a great selection of trees because we try to take our best care of them."

"We know. We came here last year and we were pretty satisfied." Harry said.

They were familiar with how it worked. Customers could either pick from the trees that had already been cut down or choose one that was still in the ground. If they chose one in the ground, the bearded man's son would cut it down for them. And if the customer had a car in which the tree could not fit, his son would put the tree on the back of his own truck and follow them home. It was a great and convenient service.

"Well it's always nice to have year round customers. We certainly appreciate it. What trees did you want to look at today?"

"Uhm... Let's just pick one from what you've already cut down." Zayn looked at Harry to make sure he was making the right decision but Harry nodded so as to tell him it was okay. "Yeah, let's do that."

The bearded man left from behind the table and led them over to about twenty five trees that had been laid up against a barn.

"Okay, Liam. You have to pick from these." Zayn said. "Try not to pick one that's too small."

"Or too big." Harry said.

"But we have high ceilings, babe." Zayn corrected. "It can be a little bigger than normal."

"No. Because I don't want to have to have a skyscraper just to decorate the tree all the way to the top. A simple two step ladder should be enough to get it done."

Zayn frowned and looked down at Liam. "Okay, Li. Go pick one."

Liam rubbed his gloves together and folded his arms the way Pa always did when he looked like he was making a hard decision. "Hmm. Which tree will be mine?" He said to himself. "That tree or this tree."

He walked up and down the line of trees five different times while talking to himself. Zayn found it funny to watch him examine all the trees as if he really knew what he was doing. He hoped that meant he'd really pick a good one.

"What are you thinking about?" Harry asked, and that question took his mind off of the cold weather.

"Nothing really. It's going to be fun decorating our tree when we get home."

"Mhm." Harry answered. "Can't wait."

"I just hope it goes by smoothly like it did last year. I don't want Liam to get bored with it."

"Bored? Nah, I don't think so. I think he will enjoy it more this year than he did last year."

"How so?"

"Because we're all much closer to each other this year. Plus we all love each other and we're a family. And everyone loves being around family. That's partly what Christmas is for." He lifted Zayn's hand and kissed his glove and Harry's explanation instantly made Zayn warm again.
