marwen had felt her stomach start to seize, unsure of whether she were going to cry or lose her lunch. her palms tensed into the newly formed fists, and her vision tunneled.
"how sick?" her voice was low. anakin sighed.
"it's not looking good." he told her. marwen cursed under her breath, lowering her head and squeezing her eyes shut. she looked back up at anakin. "senator amidala said that she had been on leave for the past two weeks." he swallowed dryly, unsure of how to go about explaining any of this. marwen felt her eyes prick with tears, but she forced them back down.
"i have to go to her." she said, trying to give herself a sense of reassurance with a nod and a shaky breath. anakin started to shake his head, but marwen had darted off back into the temple.
"n--- hey! hang on a minute." the girl was walking a quick and steady pace, but he grabbed her right as she was about to exit the dojo. "marwen," he said with her shoulders in his hands. "i've told you this because i don't know how likely it is that you will be able to go to her." but marwen's gaze avoided anakin's, and she caught sight of obiwan approaching. once again, she slipped away, and jogged towards her master. "wait---"
"master obiwan," marwen started, her heart thumping in her ears. "before i came to the temple, you said that you would make sure that i would have the ability to see my mother. that was a part of our deal, yes?" she asked him. obiwan seemed a bit confused, eyeing the approaching anakin with caution. he looked between the two of them.
"well, yes, but---"
"i need to see her now."
obiwan blinked in surprise. "marwen as much as i would like for that to become a possibility, im just not sure how likely that outcome is to be. naboo is still a very dangerous place, and if we were to divide the amount of generals given to the 501st before our next deployment, i'm unsure of how successful we would be in removing separatist occupation." he explained in as patient of a voice as he could muster. marwen didn't seem to hear him, her focus lying elsewhere. she shook her head. obiwan opened his mouth to counter her protest, but was instead greeted with an outbursting,
"she's sick."
obiwan watched the girl for a moment, taking in the fact that he had in fact promised the ability to see her mother throughout her jedi training. he looked over at anakin to gauge his thoughts, but he seemed relatively unbiased--- only concerned. he hummed for a moment.
"and you've discovered this, how?" he asked.
"i received a transmission from senator amidala about the matter. she returned to naboo because of it." anakin explained. obiwan nodded, fingers fiddling with his chin in thought. he was silent a moment more.
"then we shall call her immediately and find out what it is that we can do."
