It had been a month and Dee still hadn’t seen his bandmates. Quarantine sucked. No bandmates, no tour, and AC/DC still wasn’t guaranteed the Superbowl. He turned to Instagram for about the trillionth time. He saw Bret Michaels was the banana on The Masked Singer. Nice. He turned on the TV and flipped through a couple channels. Nothing good was on, and he was getting bored.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, his phone rang. It was Eddie Ojeda. When Dee answered the phone, there was nothing but silence. Eddie was the first to speak up.
“Hi Dee, how’s quarantine going?” The guitarist asked the singer. Dee decided to lie in this situation.
“It’s going swimmingly, how are things going on your end of the pool?” He asked the rhythm guitarist.
“Oh things are great. My family still checks on me. I’m lonely as fuck though bud.”
“Same here dude. I wish I could go outside and scare six year olds with my makeup again” Dee joked on the phone.
“Maybe if we wear masks, we can see each other next friday.”
“Are you asking me out, Eddie?” Dee remarked.
“No”
“Alright, it’s a date” Dee laughed and hung up the phone. He went to his closet and took out seven different colored masks. He chose the grey mask that was sitting on his bureau. He chose a brown leather jacket, blue top with black sleeves, grey jeans, and black sneakers. He was all set for his ‘date’ tomorrow.
On Eddie’s end of the pool, he chose a blue mask, some gray jeans, a black top, black converse, and a leather jacket. He was ready to meet Dee tomorrow. It’s just a casual meeting.. Right? Then why did he feel like he wanted to kiss Dee on his face? Eddie started bawling. He could not believe he was getting these strange feelings. Dee was his lead singer, his pal, his compadre. Why the hell was he all of a sudden in love with his pal?
The next morning, Dee got up and called Eddie.
“Hey man, where are we gonna meet?” The blonde inquired
“The park.” Eddie replied.
Dee hung up the phone and made his way to the park. He laughed to himself about the ‘date’. When he saw Eddie at the park, he gave him a hug, mask and all. It looked extremely strange from an outsider’s point of view. Eddie held on longer than he should have.
“Umm.. Eddie, you can let go now.” Dee said uncomfortably, pushing Eddie off slightly. Eddie still doesn’t let go, instead he holds on for about 10 more minutes, Dee standing there uncomfortably. Eddie then kisses Dee through the mask.“Look dude, i’m not gay.” Dee explains and runs off. Eddie is left there crying. He cries for about 7 hours. Dee comes back to the park.
“Eddie, i’m sorry. I really like you too and just didn’t wanna acknowledge it.” The blonde explained.
Eddie kissed him passionately. Dee returned the kiss. Things got hot and heavy after a while. The next morning, Eddie found himself next to Dee. He knew he was lucky.
