It was midday when I awoke the next day, Elijah's arms wrapped around me, his body pressed comfortable against my back. If the circumstances were different we would be much happier about our first meeting.
I'm definitely stoked to be here, but with the current building situation this meeting seems a little less important than it once was.
I carefully slide out of Elijah's arms, even though I'd much rather stay in them all day, I can't help him find his mum by sleeping all day.
I explore the house trying to learn my way around, I finally open a door that I can tell is her room. I hesitate with the door ajar, normally I wouldn't just go poking about someone elses house, regardless if it's my boyfriends house.
It's just something I've always known not to do, but I can't help if I don't look. It's not like I plan on taking anything, I just want to look for some sort of clue on where she might have gone.
I step inside the dark room and switch on the light, I turn around and nearly jump out of my skin, hand against my chest. As a figure looms before me, it takes a moment for me to realise it's my own damn reflection, I scowl at the mirror unimpressed.
Ha. Ha. Very Funny. I don't think I'm going to stop being jumpy anytime soon, especially with the recent events.
I wonder around the room just getting a general idea of where everything is, taking notes on Ms. Anderson's habits. It's the only way in hell I'm gonna have a chance in noticing anything off in this room.
I look at the soft and slightly fluffy carpet, noticing how well vacuumed it is, but the thing that stands out the most is that every step is imprinted in it. I track all my steps and then focus on the rest, I frown at the ones near the vanity.
"Have you found anything?" Elijah's voice is soft an indication that he is not mad I'm in here, but doesn't stop me from slightly jumping at the sound of his voice.
Fuck. I need to stop being so easily scared all the time.
"Sorry I didn't mean to just barge in here. I just wanted you to sleep and thought I could help." I quickly explain myself as I face him. He's leaning against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest, still shirtless from last night.
"It's fine. Have you found anything?" He asks gesturing around the room, he almost seems pained to be in here.
"This might seem strange and dramatic, but I have a theory." I look back at the carpet for a moment, before returning my gaze to him.
"Let's hear it then." I take a deep breath, giving myself time to really think about how I want to come out with this.
"Okay. So when I first came in I just gave myself time to familiarise myself with the room. Now I've noticed that your mum must have liked to keep this carpet clean."
"Yeah, she hated how it looked after it's left for awhile." I nod at him as he confirms my guess.
"Okay. Well I'm guessing she must have done it the same day she was taken."
"Taken?"
"I'm getting to it. So I think that you're mother was standing here when it happened." I shift to the faint steps that I can only guess were his mothers.
"Then three men entered the room, they came closer, but she spotted them in the mirror and tried to fight them off." I trace the steps for him to try and visualise. I suddenly drop to my hands and knees to look under the vanity unit, reaching under and pulling out a cap.
"I think they might have drugged her to subdue her, when she past out one caught her and dragged her out of the room." I point to the twin lines across the carpet towards the door. That I could only imagine to be her feet as she was dragged out. I stand beside him to look at the floor out in the hallway, but to my dismay it's floating wood floors.
