"But sometimes, the only thing you can do is hold on with your little, stubborn heart and have faith."
A U R O R A
I smile up at him shyly, nodding in agreement.
Holding his hand makes me feel sparks.
No, more like a big explosion going on in my tummy.
I blush as he leads me further into the school, where its more crowded with all the students roaming around.
As we walk, I notice people staring like we are animals in a zoo. Confusion is written all over their faces as they whisper to one and another.
I scoot closer to Damiens side, feeling slightly intimidated by their stares. He mustve noticed too because I feel him tense up and suddenly stop walking altogether,
"Dont you all have class to get to? Fuck off."
Hes scary when he talks like that.
The students must think the same because they all immediately look away as the hallway becomes silent.
Damien is still tense on instinct; I squeeze his hand to try make him calm down. Its something Ive had to do my brother numerous times. He looks down at me, his eyes softening.
He leans down right to my ear, "Sorry my angel, didnt mean to scare you." His close proximity and pet names makes my cheeks turn bright red, and he chuckles at this.
I just met him and hes already holding my hand and getting this close to me? Maybe its normal for friends.
I look down and play with my skirt. "Its okay."
He squeezes my hand, like I did just seconds ago, and resumes walking, forcing me to follow along. We walk in comfortable silence, ignoring the other stares.
After about a minute we stop in front of a classroom, the words AP Calculus printed in letters at the top of the door.
When we enter the classroom, I notice there are no two empty seats next to each other. That means Damien and I will have to split up. I stay close to his tall figure as he leads us to an empty seat in the back.
"D..Damien, theres only one seat back here." I quietly inform him just in case he didnt realise.
Without answering me he turns to a scary guy with piercings all over his face sitting next to the empty one. "Move." His voice is blank, yet somehow menacing.
The guy quickly gets up and finds another place to sit.
I look up at Damien with wide eyes, mumbling, "That was a little mean."
"I know." He motions towards the seat, and once I do, he follows sitting next to me.
The teacher walks in just as the bell rings. "Everybody take out your textbook and turn to page 269."
I slowly raise my raise.
She looks towards me, "Yes?"
"I-I d..dont have a t..textbook.." I play with my fingers in my lap nervously.
"A..and I c..cant talk without s..stuttering." A voice mocks quietly.
I blush and look down at their teasing.
Hands suddenly slam down on the table, making my eyes snap up as I jump, along with everyone else in the room.
Damien is standing with his hands on the desk, glaring at the boy who teased me. "Say that again, asshole, I dare you." He growls.
