A U R O R A

Damien and I are walking to the cafeteria since its now lunchtime. I start to swing our hands that are laced together out of boredom, a habit I have from whenever I hold my brothers hand.

"Fucking adorable." I hear Damien mumble, making me hope that wasnt about me. But Im pretty sure it was, so I blush and stop the movement back and forth.

I look down to hide how red my cheeks are.

They might as well stay like this forever.

Out of the corner of my eye I can see him opening his mouth to comment about my embarrassment. Well, Im not going to let that happen mister!

"Whats your favourite colour," I ask randomly.

"Probably emerald green." He looks at me curiously. "Whats yours?"

"Pink." I answer immediately.

He chuckles. "Of course it is, princess."

"Its a pretty colour! And green is a boringgg," I drag on the g.

"I think emerald green in beautiful," he says seriously, looking into my eyes.

Uh oh. Thats the colour of my eyes! It must be a coincidence.

Yeah, a coincidence.

It doesnt matter if it were or not, a blush creeps onto me whether I like it or not.

Luckily, we were in the cafeteria now. I look around and thats when I see all the stares. Instead of my crossing my arms, I wrap them around myself for comfort.

Theyre looking at us as if we grew two heads. But thankfully most of their attention seems to be on Damien.

People whisper, trying to be discreet, but its anything but. I play with the end of my skirt nervously, as I start to overhear some of the things theyre saying.

"Why is Damien talking to...her?"

"Who is she?"

"They would be totally cute together."

The last one makes me blush.

Mason mumbles something I cant understand, though I can tell it wasnt anything nice from the glare hes sending all the students. He takes my hand and gently pulls me towards an empty table in the back.

As we take a seat, I pull out my lunch that I prepared thoroughly the night before. My brother had told me school lunches were disgusting.

And looking at all the trays for other students, told me he was right.

Damien quietly observes me as he leans back against his chair.

I finish chewing and hold out half of my sandwich when I see he isnt eating anything. He must not like the food here either.

He smiles and shakes his head.

I frown and place it on the napkin, before sliding it towards him.

"Pretty please?"

He raises an eyebrow but doesnt speak and takes a bite. I smile and go back to eating.

I hope every day here is like this.
