Chapter Two: With the Dawn

~Your POV~

You woke up fairly early the next morning, actually before sunrise. Well that's a first... You thought to yourself as you got up tiredly with a small stretch and a yawn. You did your usual daily routine before heading out into the kitchen and fixing yourself a simple bowl of cereal before deciding to go outside and watch the sunrise. You climbed up into a fairly tall tree and looked out at the horizon, watching the sun rise up above it to start another day. You sighed softly to yourself, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery of the dawn.

You leaned back against the trunk of the tree, letting out a soft sigh as you closed your eyes, soaking in the peaceful quiet around you, it helped you take your mind off of the nightmare you had last night along with the events of yesterday. You turned your gaze out to the lake, watching the gentle waves roll over its surface before taking your sketchbook from your bag and quietly sketching out the scenery before you.

~Nightmare's POV~

I left my room, heading down to the kitchen and making myself some breakfast, it was a quiet morning as always, it was kinda nice. I ate my breakfast and decided to go check on (Y/N) and see how they were settling in. When I gently and quietly opened her door and saw she wasn't in bed I honestly started to worry a little bit. I wasn't sure why I was worrying, it's not like the little fox means anything... Right? I shook my head to clear it and started looking around the castle for her, my worry only growing as I failed to find her. Where is she? I asked myself, continuing my search, when I couldn't find her inside I went outside to see if I could find her. Damnit why am I so worried about a small fox? I wasn't sure and shook my head to clear the thought, continuing to search outdoors for her until I found her asleep under a tree. Thank god she's alright... I gently picked her up bridal style and caught a glance at the page her sketchbook was open to. Across the page was a beautiful landscape and I admired it for a moment. She's a really good artist... I wonder what other drawings she's made.... I shook the thought away and picked the book up with my tentacle and carried her inside. Since my room was the closest to the door and I didn't want anyone to see me carrying her, I brought her in there and gently lay her down on my bed, setting her sketchbook beside her before leaving the room. I closed the door quietly behind me and went into my study to read.

~Your POV~

You woke up, for the second time that morning, in a comfy bed, you quickly realized it wasn't your bed and started panicking, thinking someone had taken advantage of you or kidnapped you. The last thing you remembered was falling asleep under a tree by the lake, how did you get here? You looked around the room, noticing a few well made paintings along with a large bookshelf full of books. You noticed your sketchbook closed on the bed beside you and you picked it up and put it in your bag. You went up to the door and listened to see if you could hear anything beyond it and squeaked in surprise as Nightmare walked in.

"S-sorry, I don't know how I got here.... I'll just leave...." You say softly as you try to leave.

He closed the door behind him and sighed, not letting you leave. "I was the one who brought you here and from now on there will be no leaving the castle without my permission. Got it?" He kinda hissed that last part as he looked down at you with his one glowing neon blue eye.

You nodded slightly as you looked away from him, your (H/C) ears flattening slightly in shame.

Nightmare sighed again, "There's no need to feel ashamed, you didn't know any better... Just dont worry me like that again." He said softly, looking at you with what appeared to be a look of concern.

"I worried you?" You asked curiously, looking up at him.

"Did I say that? Well by any means no, just go and get ready, we'll be leaving for a mission here soon." He opened the door to let you leave.

You knew he had said that you had worried him but decided not to press the matter any further and nodded slightly at him before leaving. You went to your room and got ready for the mission, slinging your bow and quiver of arrows over your back and preparing your bag with things that you might need such as emergency medical supplies, food, water, and so on. Even if it was going to be a quick trip you wanted to be prepared for anything.

~Nightmare's POV~

GOD WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO BE SO CUTE!? My soul had started racing whenever (Y/N) had looked so ashamed for leaving the castle. I leaned against the door with a sigh and slid down into a sitting position. Geez what the hell is wrong with me.... She's just a small fox... There's no way she'd even like a monster like me..... But she's so cute.... Ugh why do I have these strange feelings? A million thoughts were running through my mind and I shook my head to clear it, getting ready for the mission and heading down to the lobby. I called everyone down and they all did at their own paces, (Y/N) being one of the first to arrive. She had a bright smile on her face and seemed a bit too eager for the kind of mission we would be doing. I wonder if she just didn't know that we were going to be destroying an AU.... I shrugged the thought away and opened the portal, waiting for everyone else to go through before I followed, closing the portal behind me.

I assigned everyone their tasks and followed after (Y/N) to see how well she'd be able to do, if she couldn't handle the mission then I'd make her a maid at the castle. She seemed to be holding up pretty well, finding a good spot to snipe people from the trees, that was until she actually aimed for a target. She had frozen, seeming to realize what she was doing and probably thinking back to her AU. She lowered her bow, putting it away and simply could not take the shot. I watched quietly from a distance as she leaned against the tree and stared at the ground. I came up below her and looked up at her.

"Why couldn't you make the shot?" I asked gingerly with a slight tilt of my head.

"I just.... Couldn't...." She replied softly, looking away from me. She seemed ashamed of herself, probably feeling like she let me down... Like she let the whole team down...

I let her be, heading back to the meeting spot to wait for the others to finish their tasks. When everyone had finished they all returned to the meeting spot. Everyone except for (Y/N) and Horror... Shit.... I opened the portal for the others and went searching for Horror and (Y/N), hoping that she was alright. I didn't really care much for Horror, I was more worried about (Y/N).

(A/N: Hehehehehehehe And I leave you off with a cliff hanger! I'm so evil X3 Anyway It's late where I live {Like 4:30 am} So Ima head to bed and will probably continue this tomorrow. I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!)
