Chapter 7

"You were right . I can never take Shubhu's place ."

Jaaniya's eyes showed that she was tired and done with everything . It wasn't the first time Kabir used that to stay away from her . She didn't quite take it to the heart everytime he said that to her but this time it was different .

The luggage behind her indicated that she was going to leave . A part of Kabir wanted her to stay and a part of Jaaniya wanted Kabir to stop her .

Kabir was puzzled , he didn't know what to do or say . So , he stood there in silence .

Jaaniya sighed . She knew this would be Kabir's exact reaction . Falling for him was a mistake . But a part of her hoped that he liked her too as he was different with her for the past two months .

But his actions were all out of sympathy . The way he behaved around her was forced and not genuine from his heart . She didn't want to break her own heart anymore , she was done with that .

"Good bye then " . She left banging the door shut .

2 months ago

Jaaniya's Pov:
I awoke to soft sheets , and the morning light trickled in through the blinds .

I blink, close my eyes , and blink again . 

Running my eyes through the unfamiliar room , I spot Kabir Verma standing behind the person who had ID card around her neck which stated Dr Parul Patle.

She smiled warmly at me . "What is your name?" ,she asked .

I was confused but decided to answer it anyway .

"What year is it Jaaniya ?", she wasn't done with her questions yet .

"2014?" . I replied quite confused as I didn't know why I was in a hospital with a doctor asking me such questions .

The doctor nodded . "You can rest now ", with that she left the room .

Intezah made her way to me .

"What happened to me ?"

"You had a accident Jaani and you've forgotten the past 5 years . "

It did make sense as i was around unfamiliar surroundings and figures .

" What is he doing here ?" I asked glancing at Kabir .

"He is your husband Jaani ".

I stared at Inteazah open mouthed .My brain formulated no thoughts other than to register I was shocked .

Third person's pov:
"What exactly happened yesterday ?" Kabir asked Intezah . They were in the doctor's office .

"I have no idea . She messaged me to come over to corniche . But when I reached there , she was on the road crossing the footpath but when she saw me ,she stood there confused and lost. I think she didn't realize her surroundings nor heard me yelling at her to move away that's when a car hit her ." Intezah stated .

"The tests show that she been taking sleeping pills and the side effects also include loss of memory at times ." Dr Parul said scanning the papers on her table .

That's when things started to make sense to Kabir . That her nightmares hadn't stopped at all , she was taking these to stop them.

"Did you know she was taking these pills ?" Kabir asked to Intezah pointedly to which she nodded .

"Has she experinced short term memory losses before ?", Dr Parul asked trying to divert the Cold War which was about to start between Intezah and Kabir .

The question made Kabir think and his thoughts took him  back to the night party at Marriot Hotel . He remembered Jaaniya being lost and confused when he asked her about whereabouts of Neha . She was completely blank that time , he should have known .

"See the issue now is temporary , her memories can come back any time . But please don't force any of her memories , it can be hard for her . And also , we don't want her resort to that pills again , it can have much more harmful effects . I will be prescribing some medicines as she will be experiencing from sudden headaches and dizziness at times . Make sure she takes it on time . " Dr Parul spoke .

Kabir and Intezah were out of the office by now .

Suddenly Intezah's face lit up .

"Don't tell me you are going to suggest something stupid ." Kabir said .

"See Jaani doesn't remember the past five years . We needn't inform her about her messed up life , she would be broken . Let's cook up a tale so she wouldn't go back to taking those pills again ."

"What tale ?"

"You and her fell in love , married and had a kid ."

"Thats a bad idea "

"No it is not ! As she doesn't remember anything , it would be awkward to her at first but she will have to come in terms with it .During that time you can get close to her and she would share everything to you . The main reason for her nightmares are she not being able to trust anyone completely and bottling everything up ."

"And what happens if her memories return ? Wouldn't she be angry with us ?"

"She has a big heart Kabir . She would understand why we did that .But are you ready for this ? . Atleast do this for Neha ."

"Yes". Kabir nodded .
