Storm on the horizon

"What's wrong with the prey?"
You had gotten a little closer to where Leopardstar was talking to the other leaders, but stopped when you noticed that their discussion was a little heated.

"The prey is poisoned, Leopardstar! Do you really think I'd make my cats starve willingly?" Firestar's ears flattened, apparently he had heard the question before and she hit a nerve.

The spotted leader groaned. "I guess this is what the twolegs were planning...?" She rubbed her nose, sounding unnerved.

Blackstar shrugged. "Maybe. We can't be sure."

"Who else would be poisoning every single piece of prey?" Tallstar grumbled. "Cats wouldn't get anything from this. StarClan, only twolegs would win out of this, driving us away and what not for their own gain."

Leopardstar's ears flattened. "And why isn't RiverClan experiencing any of this?"

"StarClan- Leopardstar, I don't know! Maybe you've been extra good and they're sparing you. But ThunderClan can't stay here any longer, all my cats are dying and suffering." The ginger tabby tom huffed, his whiskers twitched irritated.

Huh. Seemed like every clan was suffering... would RiverClan leave? By Leopardstar's attitude it sounded like she was more so voting for not...
Plus, why risk going on a dangerous journey when you were completely fine here?
Yeah, it was bad for the other clans, but-

"(Y/N)! What do you think you're doing?"
You flinched and turned around, seeing Stormfur behind you.

"Geez, you almost scared me right out of my pelt..." You grumbled, twitching your whiskers a tad embarrassed. You turned away from the leaders, and padded closer to the dark gray tom. His scent had already turned back to the one in RiverClan, like he had never even left on that journey.

"Were you listening to the leaders?" He asked, glancing past you. His amber gaze went back to you after making sure the other cats hadn't noticed you sneaking away again.

"Duh. What else? I wanted to ask Leopardstar something, but she's busy." You replied casually, starting to walk past him again. RiverClan was starting to leave back to camp, since there was no reason to stay here much longer. I wonder if ThunderClan would leave now too? Is their camp destroyed, is that why they're here?

"What did you wanna ask her?" Stormfur meowed, though now his voice had gotten much softer. Seemed he wasn't peeved anymore.

"About that place you found," You didn't bother looking back at the tom as you talked, instead looking for the rest of your clan mates in the crowd, "...it'd be nice to know where the other clans would head, if they do leave."

"Why? Leopardstar's not even sure if we're leaving yet, nothing's decided..." Stormfur replied, his ears flattening a little. He seemed slightly annoyed that you were just ignoring him...

"Well, you and Feathertail sure don't tell us!" You huffed, getting a bit irritated that he couldn't even figure out why you wanted to know. "If the other clans leave, we can't just stay here! That'd be weird, RiverClan all alone in one giant, twoleg-infested forest..."

"I-" Stormfur stuttered, and cut himself off again, caught off-guard by the comment.
"...well... it's not like it mattered, did it?"

You turned your head back towards him with a confused glare. "What do you mean, it didn't matter? Of course it matters, look at what's going on!"

"I mean, it didn't matter if we told you or not! If we're going, we'll get there anyway." Stormfur protested, still not meeting your gaze. He looked down at the ground, as if feeling ashamed, but his expression was more angry than shameful.

"It's still a little odd is what I meant." You huffed, flattening your ears. "I guess I'll get my info elsewhere, since you won't tell me."

Stormfur seemed hurt for a second, but his gaze quickly turned harsh again. "Fine! Go do it. See if I care!" He dashed off with that to go join the rest of RiverClan again, and a small part of you couldn't help but feel awful for brushing him off.

...then again, he really did annoy you about 'what does it matter if I tell you or not' and then not telling you. It felt like he had something to hide even though he insisted he didn't.
Maybe Feathertail would be of more help...
