Alomancy (from the Greek word "halo" meaning salt and "manteia" meaning divination) is also called ydromancie, adromanyc, halomancy, and idromanice.

This is a divination technique that is easy to do, since salt is widely available - you might have some in your kitchen right now. Salt is widely used in witchcraft for protection, healing, and cleansing.

The seer will throw salt crystals into the air. From this, they can interpret the pattern after the salt lands or how it travels through the air. The residue left in the bowl can also be noted.

Superstitions have come from alomancy. Such as the saying that misfortune is about to fall on the household when the salt cellar is overturned. Or, that you should throw a pinch of salt over someone's shoulder to bring them good luck.

Some people also throw salt into fire to predict the future. This is a blend of alomancy and pyromancy.
