It was one of the days Kai spent hidden away in one of the underground laboratories with Eri, which meant (Name) was free of her caretaking responsibilities and could actually leave the compound to carry through with her plan.

Perhaps 'plan' was too grand a word for what she had in mind. 'Betrayal' might be a better way of putting it.

Obviously, the compound was set in a well-to-do neighborhood, as far as it could get from the nearest police station and hero agencies. (Name) didn't own a car, and she didn't have anything concrete enough in mind to be taking trains to her destinations. What she needed to do was find the agency of a relatively prominent hero who was close enough for her to walk to.

She couldn't stay out too long without raising suspicion. Kai only let her come and go as she pleased because she was so utterly regular and he trusted her by virtue of them growing up side-by-side. If she spent an entire day outside, he'd want to know where she went, and if he decided to dig into any lie she may tell him, then the whole charade would be up and she'd be done for.

While Kai was occupied, she had a window of a couple of hours that she might not get again for a couple of days if she let this one go. (Name) had to make the best of her chance.

But her desperation was no excuse for her to be as distracted as she was, and she was thoroughly mortified when she practically towed over another innocent passerby in her state of not paying attention. A blur of blue was the only thing she caught before her head knocked into the young woman's and (Name) shut her eyes on instinct as pain bloomed across her forehead and nose.

"Ow," she whispered to herself, rubbing at her head and shaking it to physically catch her bearings. Then she realized she had just knocked into someone and her eyes flew open. (Name) immediately threw herself into a bow. "I am so sorry, Miss! This is totally my fault for not paying attention. Are you okay? Did I accidentally hurt you?"

The other woman straightened, and (Name) vaguely registered that she was a hero, and said hero was laughing as she rubbed at her head and waved away (Name)'s concern with her other hand.
