Chapter 2 - Cady

TW:  Nightmares, references to past trauma, beginnings of a panic attack

I arrive at Janis' house about 10 minutes before I had suggested I would because if there's one thing I'm not, its late. I have never late without a valid reason and I plan to keep it that way. I knock on the door and call out to them. I hear a noise followed by footsteps walking towards the door. The door swings open and I see Damien, his usual smile replaced with a light frown. "Hey Dame- Whats up?" "Hmm? Oh right- you'll probably see- " "Is it you?" He shakes his head. I push past him and rush upstairs and barge into her room. "Jan?" "Here." She replies, as I look round to see her emerging from the bathroom. "You okay?" She shrugged and I pull her into a hug- this being slightly difficult due to her being taller than me but it seemed to work. She had  her forehead resting in the crook of my shoulder and her arms around my neck and I had my head on her chest and my arms around her waist. She sighs and relaxes in my arms. I feel myself falling hard. "Tell me whats up?" I ask but its more of a statement she shrugs and says its nothing to worry about then goes on to explain that she was just having some memories that were bad. Damien is stood in the doorway but he's trying and failing to keep his gaze off us, yes I know he thinks of us as his OTP but Janis could never fall for me. Not after what i did to her last year.  He looks at me and I frown slightly. I manage to persuade her to come downstairs and let her choose a movie for us to watch. She chooses some horror film that leaves me hiding behind a pillow and making them laugh. Janis is sat in the middle of us with her head on Damien's shoulder and I'm curled up against her side and hiding behind her shoulder and a cushion. At one point in the movie there's a big jump scare that makes me jump so much I spill my popcorn. I look at Janis then apologise profusely, she pauses the movie to help me pick up the popcorn before giving me some of hers. That makes me blush and I try to snap out of it but Janis is just so beautiful. Damien decides he needs to go to the bathroom and as he gets up he winks at me. I know I had planned this the night before with him but I was freaking out so much now.

*Text Conversation*

Friday 9:59 pm

C: DAMIEN I NEED YOUR HELP!!

D: I was summoned

C: I wanna ask someone out but i'm too scared

D: HAVE YOU FINALLY FIGURED OUT YOUR GAY FEELINGS FOR JANIS BECAUSE ASK HER THE FUCK OUT I STAN THIS 

C: What-

C: How do you know

D: My gaydar never fails, ask to hang out and I'll make sure there's a chance for you to be alone together ;)

C: DAMIEN

D: WHAT IM INNOCENT I SWEAR 

C: ...

C: Okay well i want to so im tired of waiting if im rejected im rejected

D: theres the spirit cads but a little birdy tells me that 99% chance youre gonna end up with janis 

C: HAha well see you soon then 

"Hey Cads I need to ask you something-" "I need to ask you something...too" We both say at practically the same time. She tells me to go first so I do. " I am so in love with you Janis. Each time I'm with you I just want to kiss you and I don't because firstly how could someone as beautiful and amazing love someone like me who has caused you so much damage and secondly I can never tell if I like girls or buys but I love you Jan-" I falter as she puts a finger on my lips. "Okay Cads I was gonna ask you if you liked me because I like you too-" That was all it took for me to grab the collar of her shirt and press a light kiss to her lips. Then her hands were on my shoulders then in my hair and suddenly I was kissing Janis Sarkisian, and Janis Sarkisian was kissing me back. I put my arms around her waist and then she broke the kiss and started speaking. "Cads yes you hurt me but I have liked you since I met you that day in the bathroom, the only reason I ever even spoke to you was because Damien's gaydar is the most on point thing to exist so he realised I liked you and dragged me to speak to you and he..." She was rambling at a million miles an hour and I was struggling to process it, so I did all I could think to do and silence her by pulling her into another kiss before saying "I can't keep up with your thoughts." She mutters a sorry before laying back and pulling me to lay against her side. "This is nice." I mutter as she kisses the top of my head. Damien clears his throat and we both look up at him.  Janis snaps her head up to look at him, which causes me to have to sit up too. "Well..." he said expectantly to Janis.  "Caddy here just kissed me." I blushed and hid my face in her shoulder. I'm so happy that the plastics have been taken down and I'm allowed to be with Janis without judgement. Damien sits back down whilst muttering something under his breath about how we're soulmates or something equally as soppy. 

By the time the movie finishes Janis is leaning back against Damien and I've been pulled to lie against her with my head on her chest and her hands stroking my face and hair. I hum happily and Janis smiles in response. About half an hour later Damien and I had fallen asleep but Janis was still awake when her Mom got home from work. "Jan?" She whispered loudly while walking around to find us all on the couch. Janis' hand never stopped stroking my hair and it was the most amazing thing in the world. Her Mom barely had to say anything calling both our parents to ask if we can stay the night. Damien then wakes up and stretches which in turn makes it so Janis moves and I startle awake. Janis is quick to hold on to me and calm me down which was sweet. Her Mom ushers us  up to her room and Janis drags me onto the bed with her, Damien winks at that and she shoots him a silencing glare. She's very good at glaring. "You're a warm human being and my rooms cold." She says to me and Damien fakes being offended because he was usually Janis' heater. After about half an hour of me and Jan talking I fall asleep with her head on my shoulder and her arms around me. I wake up to her muttering softly but panicked in her sleep. I instinctively pull her close to me which wakes her up. She jumps up and starts pacing her room before darting into the bathroom. I give her a minute where I am torn between following her, waking Damien or calling out to both Damien and her Mom. I walk around the room before knocking into the nightstand, cursing under my breath. Damien sits up sharply "I know karat- oh Caddy what are you doing?" I walk over to him and grab his hand dragging him after me. I pause at the door to the bathroom before knocking gently "Jan?...you okay?" Damien pushes past me and opens the door to find Janis curled up in the corner under the sink.
