I let out a long, exasperated breath as I sunk further down in my bathtub; submerging myself deeper into the hot water. Wyatt was right about one thing-- this was a sanctuary. Speaking of my best friend, I was still trying to figure out what exactly happened last night. First off, Logan decided to pop the question. Second, for reasons I still don't understand, Wyatt really seemed to have a problem with it.
When we went for that walk, I had no idea he was going to kiss me. I had no idea he was going to bring up everything that happened in the past. He kept asking me over and over again if I loved him. Finally, I told him the truth. I didn't know why he needed to know that. I still didn't understand. He and I needed to talk today. Not kiss, talk.
I had so many questions that he needed to answer. Why did he kiss me? Why did he have such a big problem with me marrying Logan? What did he mean when he said he screwed everything up?
Now that I thought about it, he wasn't the only one I needed to talk to. I needed to talk to Logan too. This whole proposal thing was just so out of the blue. I knew it might not be the traditional thing to question him about it, but I couldn't just accept this without knowing.
When did my life become so confusing? I guess the obvious answer was when Wyatt returned home from college. Even though my feelings for him were still there while he was away, I thought I could handle it when he came home.
I nearly jumped out of the tub when I heard someone knock on the bathroom door.
"Amelia?" Logan called from the other side.
"Hey, Logan. Sorry, I'm still in the bathtub."
He came by my room this morning to see if I was up for a boat ride today. I agreed and told him I wanted to take a bath before we left. Judging by the clock on the wall, that was over an hour ago. Oops.
"It's cool, babe. No rush. I was just going to tell you that I'll be down in the kitchen when you're ready."
"Okay," I called out to him, "I'll be out soon."
I waited until I heard the sound of my bedroom door open and close before I got out of the tub. I wrapped the towel around me and walked over to my bathroom sink. When I checked my reflection, I grimaced. I had dark circles under my eyes and I looked like a raccoon. I definitely did not sleep well last night.
I quickly washed my face and got dressed before getting a few necessities together for our boat trip. I made sure to bring a book, a towel, my sunblock, and anything else I might need.
Once I had my bag ready, I took a deep breath and walked to Wyatt's bedroom door. I knocked a few times and frowned when I didn't get an answer. I cracked the door open and peaked my head inside.
"Wyatt?" I stepped into his bedroom and I was surprised that he wasn't in here. I didn't hear him leave this morning.
Well a heavy sigh, I left the room and started making my way down to the kitchen where Logan was waiting for me. I was hoping to talk to Wyatt before I left to go on this boat ride. He must be out somewhere. It was probably for the best anyway that I didn't get into it right now with him. With Llogan waiting for me, we wouldn't have that much time to talk.
When I finally made it into the kitchen, I saw Logan sitting at the breakfast bar talking to his mom. I walked over to them with a smile and I wrapped my arm around Logan's shoulders.
"There's the newly engaged couple!" Lynette exclaimed as she walked around the breakfast bar to hug me. "I'm so happy for the both of you!"
"Thanks, mom," Logan replied.
"Thank you!" I said to her with a smile. I glanced around the kitchen. "Where's Wyatt? I haven't seen him today."
Lynette went over to the Keurig to get her coffee. "He left early this morning. He said there were a few things he wanted to take care of." She shrugged a shoulder as she turned back towards Logan and I. "He was pretty mysterious about the whole thing. Maybe he has a new girlfriend."
