Chapter 5 : Moving In

When Cheng and Xian arrived back at Lotus Pier, they were a little surprised to see that Huaisang was still there, although it shouldn't have been that unexpected since the poor guy didn't travel by spirit blade. Cheng then brought Xian to a mostly-unused wing of the mansion and told her that she could use the rooms around her quarters as she saw fit. He could swear he saw stars in her eyes when he told her this.

"Really, Uncle Jiang?!" she asked, acting more excited than he had ever seen her before. He rolled his eyes as he nodded exaggeratedly, and she let out a whoop of excitement before going around to check the rooms she was allowed to use for whatever she wanted. He couldn't help but smile and shake his head at her sudden burst of energy, wondering how long it had been since she'd allowed herself to act like this. Turning away, he left the teenager to her own devices, planning on checking on her later just to make sure she wouldn't accidentally destroy their home.

Xian was excited to find that the section of the mansion she was given actually had seven empty rooms, and she was suddenly faced with the realization that she didn't know what to do with all this space she'd been given. However, she quickly found that one of the rooms actually had an access to an enclosed training grounds, and she smiled as she knew immediately what she would do with that. 'I wonder what this was originally for anyway... Aren't rooms like this usually for people who train a lot?' she thought to herself as she started to set a few things up. She would use the training field for training, but it likely wasn't the same kind of training the original owner of the room did. 'It always helps to have a large space where I can summon some sparring partners... and I'll put up some targets to help me with my aim on throwing talismans. I just hope I don't accidentally destroy any walls...'

After doing what she could with what she had for her training, she went inside and decided to use the room leading to the training field as another practice room for the things that were safe to do indoors. Mainly her music. After she set up the things she would use to practice her flute and to practice writing the talismans, she went to the room across the hall, which had a door out to a small garden, and set that up as her bedroom. The room connected to the bedroom she then set up as her personal library, on which she placed copious amounts of security spells and warnings to stay out of it, as that was where she would store Wei Wuxian's materials on the Dark Arts. The other four rooms, though... she didn't know what to do with them at that moment, so she decided to figure it out later.

Now that she'd finished with that, it was time for her to explore her new home. She knew she could trust her spells to keep anything from being stolen, so she let her curiosity take over and cause her to look around. She was admittedly amazed at her new home, smiling behind her veil as her eyes sparkled while she snuck around, not quite wanting anyone to spot her at first since she hadn't been introduced to them all yet, but she couldn't help but wonder if she'd be able to train with the disciples someday. Then, she spotted Jiang Cheng seemingly looking for someone, and she had a pretty good idea who, so...

"Hi, Uncle Jiang!" she said chipperly, coming up behind him, and he quickly turned around and then relaxed when he saw it was her.

"Ah, there you are," he said, looking stern as he told her, "It's time for dinner. You'll be eating with me and A-Ling."

"Sure!" she said, following behind him as he walked back towards the mansion. They were now getting some odd looks from the Jiang Clansmen who were all noticeably younger than their Clan Leader, and Xian remembered her Uncle Wei telling her once that the Jiang Clan was almost completely wiped out by the Wen Clan just before the Sunshot Campaign. Luckily, a couple dozen men and their families had escaped the destruction, hiding out with other Clans until the Sunshot Campaign started, and then they'd started building up their numbers again. After this, the Jiang Clan had accepted into their Sect anyone who wished to aid them, and thus they had once again become a formidable fighting force against the Wen Clan.
