𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐄𝐋

it was a warm september morning. the students of eastside high school entered the school, roamed the halls, and interacted with friends. it was the same everyday. this morning, i was with christina and corbyn at christina's locker.

as i was leaning against the locker, i notice christina's outfit. a royal blue adidas tracksuit, golden, dangling earrings, her hair is in a messy bun, and it's topped off with white, platformed filas. taking note of her well-put outfit, i become a bit insecure about myself.

"i still don't understand why you hide your body hazel." christina said. she closed her locker, slinging her bag over her shoulder. corbyn easily snaked his arm around her waist, pulling her towards him.

i rolled my eyes, leaning my head against the locker. "because there isn't anything to see." i replied with an obvious tone.
"hazel even i know that's not true." corbyn chuckled slightly.

yes it was. i examined my outfit. my favorite white sweatpants, grey t-shirt that said "lazy" on the front, and my airforce 1s. my hair was in a ponytail, and just like every other day, i had my black thick rim glasses on. nothing special. nothing about me or this outfit stood out, and i liked it that way.

"really?" i started, gesturing to my body. "there isn't anything about me, or my outfit that needs to be on display." both corbyn and christina rolled their eyes.

"hazel, you're impossible to deal with when it comes to the topic of confidence." christina lightly laughs, causing me to forcefully smile and shake my head. "nah, you're just overthinking it. i like how i appear to others."

christina groans, "okay fine, whatever. lets just get to class, hazel." i see corbyn nodding in agreement as christina takes my hand, pulling me through the crowd of students.

the smile i had on my face faded. that was a lie. the words that i just said were lies, and i knew it. i don't like i how i appear to others, i don't even like how i appear to myself. but chris doesn't need to know that.

arriving to class, the three of us were situated at the back of the classroom. this gives us the full view of the class, and we can basically do whatever without others judging us so much.

the classroom was quiet. the people that were around me were talking amongst themselves, while christina and corbyn were talking about, couple things. i wasn't paying attention seeing as i was slowly zoning out. the voices around me slowly faded into a muffle as my eyes focused more on what was outside the window.

i see the usual. evenly cut grass, a small pond in the back, and many colorful leaves that fell off the trees and on the ground. nothing exciting was happening outside, even the weather seemed to be normal. in the season, there are many cloudy days with a speck of sunlight, with gusts of wind every once in a while.

this normalcy gave me a sense of peace. the way everything was so natural put me at ease. not even that could last very long because my peace was interrupted by a rowdy, loud and obnoxious group walking through the door. my head snapped in their direction, immediately understanding why it was so loud.

it was part of the football team. their presence didn't make me feel intrigued. they're too loud and obnoxious, they disturbed my peace. but, one out of the group made it a lot difficult than it had to be. he was holding the football, passing it back and forth to his teammates as he walks in, his blonde locks flowing as he does so. i scoff and take my eyes off of them, trying to regain what i lost.

my attempt was ruined once again when it became clear that they were coming over here. i mentally groaned. corbyn is on the football team, of course those disturbances would come over here. i put my head down on the desk, hopefully giving off a message that says "leave me alone".

"aye, what's up bro." i hear corbyn say, which brought me to mentally sigh. this day was not going right for me. "who are those two chicks over there." i hear another, causing me to look up and snarl at the guy. "hey, bub calm down." tina comes up to me and pushes my head down against the table. "you'll be fine there."

"zach, you already know christina." i heard corbyn sigh.

"oh yeah! hi chris." a male voice, zach, replied.

"oh, god. you're unbelievable." christina pulls at his ear, causing him to wince out loud.

"will you guys shut it?" i sneer once again, so close to losing my temper. "whoa there, relax tiger." zach speaks up once again, causing me to stare him down in anger.

this is why i don't associate with these types of people. they're full of themselves and selfish. corbyn and christina might be friends with them, but they are nothing like them.

suddenly, the teacher's voice cuts through everyone else's, catching my attention. "good morning class, lets get on with our day." the woman gets everyone situated in their seats, getting ready for class. too bad this is only the beginning of the day.
