I look over at my alarm clock 7am. It should be illegal to have to get up that early on a Sunday! I snap out of my rant remembering what today is. Move in day, the day i get to bring all my things into my college room and finally let this new chapter in my life feel real.
The official move in day was about a week and a half ago but there was some mix up with my room so i got a call before hand explaining that i have to come a bit later and miss the general one with the meet day, where all the kids meet each other for the first time. My friend Kate went and met her roommate and a bunch of other people. She told me excitedly over the phone how nice and friendly everyone is.
Me and Kate have been best friends since we can remember. Her parents and mine moved houses around the same time and we have been in each others class ever since! I havent seen her since summer started, but i finally will get to today. Kate has always been the pretty, popular and party animal in our little group of two. Then there is me, i never dressed up always in my oversized clothes and no makeup. My wardrobe consisted of big baggy hoodies, leggings and sweatpants. I preferred to stay inside and read books or binge movies or series while Kate partied. At school she would always have her light brown hair cascade down her back in neat curls, makeup to make her features stand out more and she always dresses to impress. Basically in simple words im best friends with a popular girl. While my blonde hair is either in a high pony or trapped under my hood, my blue eyes always have bags under then from a late night of reading or binging some shows. Of coarse Kate might have them too but you could never tell with her flawless makeup skills.
All my things are already packed and my dad brought them over into my car last night before him and mom flew on a much needed holiday. You see im the only kid in my family so it was difficult to convince my parents that i will be able to drive by myself.
As i checked one last time that i haven't left anything behind i locked the door and climbed into my car that will in a few hours bring me to a new and exciting time in my life.
