November 2nd,1991:

It was about ten in the morning when I was seated at my desk with a pen and paper. I had all night to think about what I had to say to papa but nothing came to mind. I mean, what can I say? "Hey papa, it's your daughter, Bethany. The one who never wrote to you since you have enlisted in the military after I told you not to." I thought about going to my sister's to see what they wrote to papa but they write to him everyday so it would be no use to ask. They know what to say, unlike me.

There was a knock at the door, "Hey sweet pea, you know the drill for Sunday morning breakfast." Mama spoke softly through the tiny crack of the wooden door. "Okay mama," I replied with my head buried into my hands.

" This letter is going to be much harder than I thought," I groaned while tossing my head back as I was biting the cap piece to my pen. I kept starting the letter with the same sentence before giving up halfway because it was either too clingy or too cheesy.

"Bethany Elizabeth Porter, you got all day to write that letter! Get your butt down here for breakfast!" Mama screamed loud enough to wake up the entire house. I slammed the pen down on the desk, crumbling another piece of paper up before tossing it into the rest of the "Sorry, I'm all out of ideas" pile.

I stormed all the way downstairs to see Alex is seated on the opposite end of the table of mama and there was Addison seated beside him as she was blinking her hazel eyes at him. Cassidy could careless about Alex since she was already seeing a man of her own who is soon to be enlisted as well. The only one that knows about him is me.

"Joining us for breakfast this fine morning I see?" I asked as I was coming down the stairs.

"Indeed, I am always here everyday according to your wonderful sister," He countered. Addison wheezed as she kicks under the table with excitement.

I sat across from Cassidy where we both shared our small giggles and glares of Addison making a fool of herself. I could not believe how ridiculous Addison looked trying to flirt with someone who is not even in the same age group as her. I would tell her to back off but, she is only twelve and someday she will understand enough to where she will share the same feelings like I do for someone her age.

" Oh Alex, what are your plans for today?" Cassidy mocked Addison's voice fluttering her eyelashes at him. Addison frowned and kicked Cassidy hard enough to make her yelp. Alex and I chuckled as our eyes met across the table. I can spot Addison in the corner of my eye elbowing Cassidy in the rib cage as she points to Alex and me.

Alex starts to pound on his chest aggressively staging a fake cough to turn the attention away from us at the table and Addison leaps over to his seat smacking him hard in the back until his coughing turned into a chortle. He cleared his throat before speaking,"Uhem, thank you for that Addison and to answer your question Cassidy, I do have plans to go downtown for national deviled eggs day.

"Ew!" Addison added scrunching her face up in disgust. Cassidy and I scoweled at Addison, kicking the both of her legs to hush her up. "OW!" She cries while rubbing her leg from underneath the table.

"It's alright, everybody has their likes and dislikes." He winked at her direction which was enough to make her squeal obnoxiously again as she returns the aggressive kicks back over to Cassidy and me.

"Alright, well looks like I will be taking my breakfast elsewhere since Addison and Mr.Googley eyes ruined that for me," I joked. Apparently, I was the only one who got my joke since everyone was giving me the death stare except for Addison and Alex who were blushing of embarrassment.

I stood up from the table taking a bite out of my apple before walking back up the stairs as I balanced my plate of croissants. Mama knew better not to follow me since that I have to work on papa's "special" birthday letter that she insists I write.
