Back At Camp

{Max P.O.V.}

I'm on the bus now. What bus you ask? The bus that's taking me back to Camp Campbell. It's been 5 years since I went there last. Why didn't my horrible excuse of parents send me every year? I dunno...I also don't know literally anyone on this bus. Well Quatermaster is still driving it. But he said something about David and Gwen not working here anymore. I guess it's just me and Quatermaster this year. It kinda sucks cause I was looking forward to seeing everyone. I hate to admit this,but they were kinda like a family to me. Anywho,who cares? I'm going back. Back to a place where people actually take care of me instead of ignoring me 24/7. It feels kinda good. The bus stops and another kid gets on. I look for a moment then process who it is "Neil!?" He looks surprised at me then smiles a little "Max!?" He sits beside me and we both laugh "Max,it's been forever!!!" He seems so happy to see me... "Yea I guess it has. How long? 5 years I think? I dunno,but it's good to see you again" I give him a small smile. Why do I suddenly have butterflies in my stomach? "You too" he nods his head and smiles back before we both face forward.

I'm pretty sure I fell asleep cause suddenly Neil is shaking me softly "Max,wake up. We're here" he laughs a little as I drozily lift my head up from the window. We both walk off the bus,talking about how this year is gonna be so chaotic with us back together. Of course it won't be the same without Nikki,but I'm sure we can mange.

The new counselor speaks in a loud voice "Welcome everyone!" I stare for a minute before taking a deep breath. Me and Neil look at each other "Let's ditch. I already don't like him." He snickers at my comment on the new counselor,and starts running off. Of course I follow him. I find myself thinking about his small snicker. My face heats up...why is this happening? I'm probably embarrassed for thinking about something so stupid. I brush it off as always.

Finally we get to a peaceful area and both sit down,out of breath. "Hey Max?" Neil finally said,breaking the silence. "Yea,what's up?" I looked at him for a moment and then suddenly felt his arms around me. "It's good to have you back" am I blushing? Oh gOd I thiNK I'm BLuShiNg- "You too Neil" I reply hugging him back.
