「 — THE CANARY
IS SCREAMING. 」

i want to fly, i want to fly,
i want to fly.

all she ever wanted was to soar the sky,
touch the clouds and embrace the sunlight.

all she ever wanted was to sit beneath
the starry night,
awaiting the fall of a shooting star with
a cup of tea in hand.

but poor thing! little canary is trapped,
imprisoned in her small cage and forced
to watch other birds fly.

「　自由になりたい。」

and the canary broke through the rusty cage,
wounding her wings though it did not hurt—not at all

for the sky will be hers tonight
and tomorrow,
and the day after tomorrow.

the stars will finally shine for her
— for all eternity —
until the day she disperses into dusts

and join them in the everlasting sky
of glitters and shadows

≫ & explaining my writing: i have always struggled with 'freedom', especially from my family. i've been sheltered most of my life and it's rly difficult for me to ask permissions to go out w/ friends. i couldn't help but feel like i was being imprisoned, esp now w/ all these quarantine & social distancing things. i'm also still being underestimated and treated like a child—i'm 18 years old, wtf :')

≫ and yes, this is like a wish, a hope, a charm for the future. i hope once this covid-19 cases decrease and we can return to our daily life, i can get out of the house more—i can work, i can study at cafés, i can be free :)

≫ and i'm sure this is obvious but,,, scarlett is a pseudonym lmao. my real name is much more mainstream.
