Gramma: "In the beginning... there was only ocean... until the mother Island emerged, Te Fiti. Her heart held the greatest power ever known. It could create life itself. And Te Fiti shared it with the world. But in time... some began to seek Te Fiti's heart. They believed if they could possess it... the great power of creation would be theirs. And one day... the most daring of them all... Bridge across the vast ocean to take it. She was a demigoddess of wind and sea. She was a warrior, a trickster, A shapeshifter who could change form with the power of her magical fish hook. And her name... was Y/n." Y/n looked at Te Fiti's heart then carefully pried it off the stone with her hook giggling til the island began to rumble between her feet then ran off. "But without her heart, Te Fiti began to crumble... giving birth to a terrible darkness. Y/n tried to escape... but was confronted by another who sought the heart, Te Kā! A demon of earth and fire. Y/n was struck from the sky... never to be seen again. And her magical fish hook and the heart of Te Fiti wer lost to the sea. Where, even now... 1,000 years later... Te Kā and the demons of the deep still hunt for the heart. Hiding in a darkness that will continue to spread... chasing away our fish... draining the life from Island after Island... until every one of us is devoured by the blood thirsty jaws of inescapable death!" She told the story of the Demigoddess Y/n and Te Kā to the village children including her toddler grandson Moana whom instead of crying or fainting or freaking out was clapping with a smile on his face. "But one day the heart will be found by someone who will journey beyond our reef, find Y/n to deliver her across the great ocean to restore Te Fiti's heart and save us all." She said smiling sweetly.
Tui: "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Thank you, Mother. That's enough." He said before picking up his son. "No one goes outside the reef. We are safe here. There is no darkness. There are no monsters." He said til he accidentally hit for of the rolled up tapestries as they all unveiled around the hut showing multiple monster images to the children making them freak out and run around. "There's no monsters, no monsters. No, there's nothing beyond our reef, but storms and rough seas. As long as we stay on our very safe island we'll be fine." He said to the children.
Gramma: "The legends are true. Someone will have to go." She said honestly to her son as Moana sneaked out of the hut looking over at the gleaming ocean waters.
Tui: "Mother, Motunui is paradise. Who would want to go anywhere else?" He questioned.
Baby Moana at the Ocean shoreline
Moana looked at the water smiling as a conch shell washed onto the sand in front of him but when he was going to pick it up he heard birds screeching around a tree's roots to see a baby sea turtle trying to get to safety so he grabbed a giant leaf to protect the baby sea turtle from the sun and waddled beside the turtle scaring away the birds until the baby sea turtle made it to the ocean which made him smile happily.
