"You remember me, don't you Link?" Zelda asked, as she stepped closer to him. She had just watched her Knight defeat Ganon, saving Hyrule from his evil.
"Princess..." Link said, unable to say more. His body began to shake as he fell to the ground. Zelda rushed towards him, slowing her pace as she noticed him smiling. He turned to lay on his back and said, "I suppose Ganon caused a bit of weakening in me."
Zelda smiled. She couldn't help it. Link began to sit back up, patting the ground next to him, beckoning the princess towards him. Zelda sat, trying to not look at Link's direction. She felt as though her heart was going to burst from her body.
Finally, Zelda decided to look towards Link. He was staring at her intently. Zelda couldn't help but cry. This surprised Link as he thought he did something wrong.
"Princess, did I upset you?" Link asked, worried for her. Zelda looked up to him and smiled through her tears.
"It has been way too long..." Zelda said, hugging Link. Link embraced her and allowed her to cry on him. He didn't blame her for this. Link had been able to collect all his memories and it helped him recall his princess....the feelings he had for her too.
"According to the Sheikah Slate, it is 5:00pm," Link said, rubbing Zelda's back to comfort her as she calmed down. "I think we should go travel to a nearby stable. It is called Wetland Stable. I'd say on my horse it should take 10 minutes to get there." Zelda nodded. She feared if she spoke a word she would just break down again.
Link stood up slowly, making sure he wouldn't rush himself. Zelda followed shortly. Link whistled, calling forth Epona, his horse. He then held a hand out to his princess. Zelda obediently took it and had Link help her up his horse. It felt so....weird to Zelda, Walking and riding. She would have to get used to it once more.
Link patted the back of Epona and hoisted himself up. He then grabbed the reins, looking over Zelda's shoulder. "Ready, princess?" Link asked. Zelda looked back, and smiled. She could feel the heat of his breath, his body leaning upon hers. Zelda nodded and quickly turned back, blushing. Link smiled. Zelda's hair whipped at his face, but he didn't mind. On his journey to defeat Ganon, he had time to collect flowers, some being Silent Princesses. Zelda's hair smelled like them. "Hya!" Link said as Epona began to gallop towards the road.
Soon after, they passed Mabe Village Ruins. Zelda frowned. She remembered going to that very village and buying seeds to plant in her garden. Link stopped Epona for a moment. He looked over to the ruins and frowned as well. He didn't specifically remember this village but had moments where he went to places with his princess. Link softly tapped both sides of Epona. The horse then continued to gallop.
They rode in silence for what seemed like an eternity but was more like 3 minutes. They crossed a bridge over the Hylia River. "Look, there," Link said, breaking the silence, "The stable." He pointed to their right. Zelda nodded.
A few minutes later, they entered the stable. Link slowly got off the horse and helped Zelda down after. He led Epona to the stable and put her in, locking the gate after. He turned to Zelda and smiled. He pointed to the entrance and walked over to the stable owner. He paid for 2 beds, then led Zelda to one. "Goodnight, Princess." Link said. Nodding to her. He then walked to the one next to hers and sat down on it. He glanced over at Zelda, but she was already fast asleep. He grinned, laying down and closing his eyes for the last time that night...
