Corruption

This is a huge part of the story later on- so major spoilers (kinda)

- Corruption is, as the name suggests, the mental and physical corruption of a demons (or angels) form
- As it is a mental/physical change, it tends to cause some more beastly and unwanted changes— which is where many of the unnatural beasts come from.
- Aside from changing appearance, the mental changes are what truly make Corruption a dangerous weapon.
- It is primarily irreversible, though there has been some rumors on an old reaper who can remove corruption, though this hasn’t been proven
- In a sense, corruption is like a disease, it slowly chips away at reason, ultimately destroying the ‘hosts’ stability, given enough time.
- Corruption tends to be a slow and sometimes painful beast to deal with. As many of the changes are slow to appear/occur at first
- Corruption can be caused naturally by excessive drinking, depression, bloodlust, and sometimes even being ‘poofed’ too many times
- Manual corruption can only be done by Jupiter, Venus, and even Gaia to an extent, though Gaia corrupted someone by accident as punishment.
- Corruption doesn’t have to be physical. It can be entirely mental as well, mental corruption alone just causes psychotic or aggressive tendencies.
- Corruption can be manifested in literal weapons which can destabilize a demons form
- Using it as a weapon acts a catalyst and does make it spread faster.
- The beast corruption turns a demon into is usually similar to the basis of what that demon is. (Ex. Asmodee being a dragon-bird fallen angel normally and turning into a bird-like dragon when he’s corrupted.)
- Corruption can be sensed just like energy can, though it takes some concentration as Corruption tries to mask itself as pure energy.
- Corruption can be sentient
- Sentient corruption is usually natural and comes from a manifestation of a persons bad thoughts, it keeps them in a bad state of mind.
- Corruption shows itself as this smoky/electric energy in battle which radiates off of someone who’s corrupted.
- Corruption can kill plant life if it’s strong enough— fully corrupted beasts are almost guaranteed to kill any plants they touch (unless plants were that important to the person previously Which is why corrupted Asmodee doesn’t kill any plant he touches)
- Corrupted beings can be ‘poofed’ but that won’t heal them really.
- Normally corrupted beings can’t speak, but they are able to learn to form broken words if they are focused enough. Which usually they aren’t.
