Chapter 5
The morning was dull there was a slight wind that picked up a few brown leaves off the ground and swirled them in the air. The sun was hidden behind a few grey clouds that refused to let it shine for the day.
"Looks like an indoor day eh? Good for some FIFA what d'ya say?" Jai asked entering their room.
"Yeah sure in a bit tho I just woke up let me get my head straight" Luke said while staring through the window.
"You're head is never straight, fine take your time I'll go bother beau for a bit then." He said as he walked out the room.
Luke remained on his bed and viewed the outside from a strange angle since he was on the top bunk. He rolled on his back and closed his eyes as he felt a sharp pain on his back.
"Deep breaths, just take deep breaths." He whispered to himself.
The pain soon disappeared and he knew this couldn't go on like this any longer. He knew something was wrong but what could it be? He pushed himself up and got off his bed. The cold floor colliding with his bare feet sent chills up his spine making him grab his blanket to keep him warm. He made his way over to the bathroom and locked the door begin him. He sat on the toilet seat and put his head in his hands. He remained this way for a few moments before he got up and went inform of the sink. He picked up his gaze to the mirror and was shocked at what he saw. The reflection wasn't him it was nothing close to him. The character in the mirror had dark circles under its eyes and pale skin with lips to match.
He quickly opened the faucet and washed his face with cold water to help wake him up. He splashed his face and when he opened his eyes he saw red in the sink. Blood. He was so perplexed he looked in the mirror again and found he had a nosebleed. He brought his finger to the red liquid under his nostril and looked at it. Shaking his head he washed his face again. With one last look in the mirror he knew what he had to do.

"Hey Jai there's something I gotta tell yo-" Luke was cut off by the laughter coming from the living room. He walked over and say Beau and Jai having a laugh while they watched a video they were about to upload.
Jai turned around smiling but once he saw the face on Luke he automatically stopped and asked him what was wrong. Beau did the exact same thing when he turned around.
"Oh nothing I was just wondering which one of you idiots left the empty milk carton in the fridge again." He said knowing they would believe that was what he was upset about since he always complained about them doing that.
"Shit I think that was lala sorry man." Beau laughed.
"Yeah and I think lala ate all the bacon too sorry man." Jai joined and laughed. They both turned around and continued watching the video.
Luke walked back into his room and sat on the chair. In that moment he realized that he could not tell Jai what was going on. It was too much to put on him. He also realized that he couldn't keep living like this with the pain and curiosity slowly eating away at him and tearing him apart.
He got up and walked over to the bathroom where he lifted his shirt and took one more look at the bruise on his back before dialling his phone.
"Hello my name is Luke Brooks and I'd like to make an appointment to see a doctor about a few symptoms I've been developing the past couple of months." He waited for a response and rapidly tapped his fingers on the rim of the bathroom sink.
"The next free appointment I have is tomorrow at 3:30pm is that good for you?" The woman on the other line responded in an average tone, not too happy but neither annoyed or angry.
Luke hadn't expected the appointment I be made so quickly he thought he would've had a few days at least to prepare himself but maybe it was better that he got it for the next day to get this out of the way and deal with it head first.
"Hello sir are you still there?" The woman responded when Luke took too long.
"Oh yeah umm that's good tomorrow 3:30pm got it." He managed to get out those few words.
"Okay I just made it please arrive an hour earlier as there may be less patients than expected and you may be attended earlier." The woman said now in a kinder voice.
"Yes okay thank you so much for doing this at such a late hour I really appreciate it." Luke responded staring at the ground refusing to look in the mirror because if he saw his reflection talking on the phone then this would be real.
"No trouble at all it's my job, the doctor will see you tomorrow and have a good night." He could see the small smile on the woman's face.
"Thank you and you as well." And with that they both hung up.
