A/N; I can't say I've been busy, so I'll tell you the truth; I've been terribly lazy! But now I'm back and I hope you still want to read this story! //mathildaHilda
I was easier than he thought to retake access to his mind. One push and she was out of his mind. He pushed himself off the floor and made his way to the console. Inhaling deep breaths, he tried twisting a knob. To his surprise, the knob made the TARDIS groan and winkle to the side. He looked around in shock at his old ship, before twisting and pushing more buttons and levers, sending the big, blue box toward Earth.
The familiar sound filled the air around him and he ran for the doors, happy to greet solid ground under his feet.
He was met, however, by a wall. "Perfect. Just what I needed. Lessons in parking." He muttered and went back to the console. Soon enough, the TARDIS faced the other way and he was free to go.
What met him, made him wonder if he'd wandered out in the wrong time. But checking the co-ordinates on the console, he had parked her in 2014. But walking out again, he still felt like a stranger to what he had left only days earlier.
The streets of London were destroyed. Judging by the marks left from beams, the Cybermen had found their way to Earth.
He had vauge memories of a similar events. And to him, having a vague memory, was scary. It was something of Rose and Mickey, but nothing he could really remember. But the thought if both Rose and Mickey was enough to break his hearts, so he pushed it away and wandered down the street, which was occupied by the soldiers in red caps.
He stopped a soldier on his way out of an abandoned house. "What is going on here?" He asked. The soldier stared at him. "The battle, sir."
"I can see that. What battle?"
"The Battle of Canary Wharf, sir. The Cybermen took the building of Canary Wharf eight years ago and we still haven't won." The soldier stated. Cybermen weren't a specie that was easily defeated, but what bothered the Doctor the most, even if he left the caring part to Clara, was the age of the soldier. "How old are you?" He asked. The soldier cocked his gun before answering. "17, sir." The Doctor blinked. "When did you join?"
"At age 15, sir." The soldier said and rushed past him. The Doctor looked after him. So this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. He thought and got back to the TARDIS without being seen. There, he picked up the phone and called Clara's number. Signals got through, but she didn't pick up. He didn't have PE's number, but he tried calling the numbers the TARDIS provided to him. The first number, to a John Watson, got through after three signals.
"Hello?" A male voice said. He sounded hushed, perhaps crouched down in hiding. "John Watson?" The Doctor asked.
"Yes? Who is this?" The Doctor hesitated before replying. "The Doctor." He said shortly. The other end went silent before it began to buzz. "Clara?" John said and seemingly handed over the phone. Clara's voice came through the phone.
"Doctor?" She asked. "Yes." He said. "What the hell is going on?" She asked. "Where are you?" She added.
"I don't know. It just shouldn't be here." He answered. He ignored her second question, mainly because he didn't know where he was. "What shouldn't be here?" Clara questioned. "The Battle."
"It's not just here. It's everywhere. The Cybermen are everywhere, and they say we are losing." Clara said. The Doctor walked out the door and continued talking into the phone. "They?" He asked. "The soldiers." She said. An idea flashed the Doctor's mind and he slammed the phone to its unit and took of running down the street.

"Doctor?" Clara said into John's phone. She sighed and handed back the phone. Sherlock frowned at her. What he read was, among others, disappointment. He had read early on, that this Doctor was her friend and through very few experiences with friends, disappointment was a common thing. "He's back." She said. "He doesn't know what's going on here. But I swear I remember something very much alike to this." She sighed.
"Danny." Sherlock said and looked at the man. "You're a soldier. So you must know about this." He said. "I was a soldier. Now I'm a maths teacher." Sherlock rolled his eyes. "You still know what happened here." He stated. "The Battle of Canary Wharf. But it happened eight years ago." Danny replied. "But why is it here?" Sherlock questioned. "How should I know?"
Sherlock ignored him and turned to the other two. The small room was too close to the battle, but they could still hide perfectly well until the Cybermen would find them. And they would possibly do just that in a couple of hours.
"Why?" He repeated. Clara perked up. "Changing time-lines." She said. Sherlock nodded. "When did you become an expert on this?" She asked and sent him a small smile. Sherlock didn't return it. "Thanks to you, miss Oswald." He said.
Before anyone could say another word, the sound of the soldiers' guns and charges to the enemy were silenced, and the only thing they could hear were the charging footsteps of metal men. The next, the door was broken down.

The Doctor ran between the lines of the soldiers, trying to find the soldier boy he'd spoken to earlier. He was stopped by a soldier, probably slightly older than the boy from earlier. "You shouldn't be here, sir. Only soldiers." He said and held out his gun, so that it worked as a barrier between the Doctor and the other soldiers. The Cybermen's beams of killing light was flying over their heads as the Doctor spoke. "Fought on first line." The soldier looked at him as he picked up his psychic paper and showed it to the young soldier. "How old are you?" He asked when the boy didn't do a salute. He didn't want one, but it was a common thing among UNIT's soldiers. "18, sir." The Doctor nodded. "How long?" He added. "Only a year, sir." He answered.
The Doctor eyed the gun, sending the soldier a look. As quick as he could, the soldier took away his gun and actually, to the Doctor's dismay, saluted. He passed by several soldiers before he found the one he was looking for. The soldier recognized him soon enough. "Sir? What are you doing here?" The boy asked. "Looking for you. Come on." He answered and walked away, waving at the boy to follow. The boy followed, his gun unloaded and hanging on his back.
"Tell me everything." The Doctor said as they ducked behind a vehicle. "Tell you what, sir?" The boy asked. "Everything from eight years ago and forward." He replied. What the boy told him was short, but it summed up the battle against the Cybermen. "What about the Daleks?" He asked. "What?" The boy asked, eyebrows raised high. "The Daleks. Pepper-shakers with a whisk and a plunger." He imitated the Daleks iconic hands before looking back at the boy. "Don't know what you mean, sir." The boy said. "Okay, enough with the sir. I'm the Doctor, who are you?"
"Jimmie." The Doctor stretched out a hand, which a confused Jimmie took and shook lightly. "There's something else. An orb. Were there an orb or a sphere on Canary Wharf?" He asked. "Yes, there was. They moved it after the Cybermen came through the Void."
"Where is it now?" Jimmie bit his tongue in thought before replying. "Don't know. Kate is the only one who knows where it is." He said. "Kate? Kate Stewart?" The Doctor asked and Jimmie nodded. "We need to get to her now." He said and rose from their hiding place. "We?" Jimmie asked. "Yes, you too." The Doctor said and walked away, forcing Jimmie to run to keep up with him. "But there's a battle going on here! We can't just leave them." Jimmie said as one of his comrades screamed. "If we are going to stop this, we need to get to Kate before she does." The Doctor said and entered the alley where the TARDIS was parked. "Before who, Doctor?" Jimmie asked.
"The Rani."
