BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I wake up to the sound of my pleasant alarm and instantly shut it off. It's 5:30 AM, Tuesday morning. My tired eyes close shut and open again fifteen minutes later. I shouldn't have stayed up all night reading yesterday, I think, even though its more of a habit now. My sleepy body drags off the bed and into the bathroom where I take no more than thirty minutes showering, brushing my teeth and washing my face. I rush back into my room and slip on my athletics's clothes: black knee-length Nike shorts, a loose gray t-shirt and my black volleyball shoes. By now it is 6:05 and I'm slowly running out of time. I grab my black gym bag and stuff in blue skinny jeans and a pair of converse along with my binder. Around 6:20, I am all set so I make myself somewhat useful and wake up my little brother, Asher, then head out the door to my friend's house. She lives next door so all I had to do was go into her car which she was already in. The fifteen minute drive to the school was warm since it was April in Dallas. The car arrived at the school at 7:01. My friend and I rushed out of the car and ran to the back doors of our School that lead to the girl's gym. I hastily threw my things into my locker and rushed downstairs. By the time I stepped into the large gym, volleyball practice had already begun.
Sweat drips down every one's tired face by the time coach ends practice. Everyone rushes into the locker room to change before any of the off-season girls come. I waste no time changing into my prepacked clothes from this morning, and head downstairs with my binder and book in hand . The bell ringsg shortly after entering the gym, which is now filled with over 70 girls, signaling first period was over. The rest of the day drags on slowly as teachers welcomed us back from spring break and begin telling us the plans for the rest of the semester. I have personally made myself a goal to work extra hard this semester and get into the habit of studying very night, which will hopefully get me all A's. By the time algebra rolls around, I have a difficult time deciding where to sit since I don't want to be tempted to be distracted by my friends but I also don't want to be lonely. I decide to sit by my friend Cather, who I know is very good at this subject and doesn't talk during class much. Halfway into our class, a boy walks into the room and hands a slip to Mr. Jones. He's introduced to the class as Levi who is our new new student. Levi is about six foot tall by the looks of it, pale-faced, with rectangle shaped glasses. Nerd, I immediately think. He is seated to my left, which is the end of our row. He looks at me and his dark blue eyes meet with my green eyes for a second, he quickly reverts his attention back to the teacher. I take out my precious book, The Book Thief, and begin reading. I can see him on the corner of my eye glancing my way but I don't want to look up and see if he's looking at me or my fascinating desk.
