It was almost midnight.

Tired and sleepy, Rosinante pulled up his car on the front yard's vacant lot. Opening the door, he stretched his body with a yawn. After making sure that his car was closed and secured, he made a beeline for his and Law's shared apartment.

He was close to the house' door, when he suddenly tripped on one of the small steps the place has. Landing face flat on the floor, he gave an annoyed grunt, pulling out his personal key before pushing himself up.

Once inside, he noticed how quiet the whole apartment was, but decided to shrug it off, thinking that Law was in night shift for the day. Humming to himself, he went to the kitchen to make a mug of coffee.

Deciding to stick with instant coffee, he pulled out the electric kettle to boil some water. Thankful that he didn't get shock while turning the kettle on, he reached for their kitchen cupboard only for a bag of flour fall straight to his face. With a cough and a few small sneezes, he pulled the jar where the coffee was placed.

Scared that Law might scold him for a lifetime because of his clumsiness, he took a broom and started sweeping the floor clean. He was halfway finished when he suddenly heard a muffled moan making him halt. He was waiting for another just to confirm he wasn't hearing things but it never came.

Shaking his head softly to clear his mind, he started sweeping again. As soon as the broom met the tiled floor, he heard the moan once more, this time it was clearer and had a name accompanied by it.

"Ah~ L..aw"

He suddenly felt cold. The voice, even though it was a pitch higher than normal, was all too familiar for him. Wanting to confirm his hunch himself, he let go of the broom's hilt and started walking slowly to the stairs direction. Quite happy that he never tripped while tiptoeing, he placed a hand on the railing, only to feel a soft fabric placed against it.

To his horror, it was his adoptive son's lab coat, creased and discarded not-so-properly. Heart pounding heavily against his chest, he took a small stride only to almost fall on his back when his feet stepped on an all too familiar black heels.

It was (y/n)'s.

It was his gift last Christmas.

Ears ringing with nervousness, he dashed up the staircase and ran to the short hall. Stopping his tracks when he was now in front of Law's room, he noticed that it was ajar making everything audible.

"Ah Law there.." Another high pitched whine came from you.

"Stay still will you?" Law grunted.

"I can't" You cried.

Hearing the bedsheets shuffle, without thinking, Rosinante slammed the door open, eyes darting towards his son's bed.

You and Law suddenly froze when you heard the loud 'bang' of the door crashed into the bedroom's stone wall. There he stands, Rosinante or Cora-san as you two would like to call him, hair disheveled, and face and uniform full of flour, looking at the situation the two of you were under.

The three of you gaped at each othrt with Law, holding your stocking-covered sore feet for a stretch and you, one hand gripping on the bed sheets in pain and the other hugging the doctor's favorite polar bear plush toy with tears in the sides of your eyes.
