I WAS DREAMING.

I knew I was because I was back at camp. I was sat on the shore. And next to me was Poseidon, looking way too much like Percy for my comfort.

"You now, too. Why can't the gods just left me finish the quest," I complained.

Poseidon laughed. It sent chills down my spine. It sounded like Percy. I hated every second of this.

"But it's not an official quest, is it? It's a rescue mission. It's an attempt to prove yourself."

I opened my mouth to argue, but there was no point. He was right.

"What do you have to warn me about?"

"A few things, godling. But first lets discuss my son," he said.

"Percy," I said annoyed.

Poseidon nodded like, duh. Obviously. "It's not wise for me to tell you this, godling--"

"My name is Phoenix," I pointed out.

"Do not interrupt, godling," he said. "It's not wise for me to expose your destiny like this, but the gods are desperate. You will be my sons doom. Do not toy with him. He cannot handle it."

"Too emotional," I agreed.

He didn't acknowledge my comment.

"Second. Turn back. Go to camp. This quest is not meant for you, godling."

"Yes it is! My mother told me to go find Persephone. We will all perish if I don't save her!" I said. "She needs my help in Colorado."

"Now, what on Earth would she be doing there?"

I shook my head. I wasn't the god here, I didn't have the answers. That was his job.

It was silent for a moment.

"Why do you call me that? Godling? Aphrodite did too. But she called Percy a young hero," I said, looking over at him. I hated looking at him, but I wanted to see his reaction.

He smiled like I said something funny.

"Are you a young hero?"

"Depends on how you look at it, doesn't it?"

Poseidon didn't not like my philosophy on right and wrong it seemed.

"No," I amended. "But still. Why godling?"

He shook his head. "You are not meant to know, Phoenix. It will bring you nothing but tragedy."

I laughed bitterly. "I'm a demigod. That comes with the territory, doesn't it?"

"I suppose so," he said.

"Is Percy destined for tragedy," I asked.

He smiled sadly. "Yes."

I frowned. As much as I hated whatever I was feeling for him, I didn't want him to have a tragic ending.

Then I got a sick feeling in my stomach.

"It's because of me, isn't it?"

He shook his head. "I cannot tell you such things."

"None of this makes any sense," I sighed softly. "I can't tell if your lot wants me to go save her or not! I don't know what's going on."

"I understand your frustration. We all want different things," he said. "We see several futures depending on your choices. Your mother is the goddess of the crossroads. I'd say you're at quite the crossroads. Go back to camp or safe Persephone."

"That's literal crossroads. And it's not a hard choice," I said. "I have to save her. She's been there for me. I must do the same."

Poseidon simply nodded, knowing he could not argue with me. With my desire to prove myself, specifically to my mother.

"Tell Percy I said hello...and to trust his heart," he said.

And then I woke up to the shit show.
