Click. Click. Click. My tan, two-inch heels tapped the floor as I stepped forward. Picking up the pace , I hurried through the crowded hangar swinging my head, searching her aunt and uncle. Turning my head from side to side, I craned my neck until I spotted the giant yellow bee balloons, my aunt's trademarked welcome home.

"Mira, darling," Susana, my aunt said shoving the balloons into my hand, "How wonderful to see you again. Your uncle Herman and I have been prepping the house all week. Oh, how we've missed you. Emma was overjoyed when she heard you were coming early this year. Sorry, I am just so excited. I know I'm talking so much, but you have changed so much this year. I'm so proud. You must be so tired, so let's get home."

"Thanks, I can't wait to see my adorable cousin again. I have missed you all so much." I exclaimed, my mouth stretching into a huge smile.

Continuing on towards the exit I chatted with my aunt, catching up on this past year's events, and boy was there a lot to talk about. I told her all about my junior year trying to shy away from why I was coming to the farm so early this year. That was a topic that I definitely don't want to talk about. Every summer I visit my aunt and uncles farm, to learn from their business and to remember my roots. My mom always said that rich kids are spoiled and she definitely didn't want a spoiled kid. The farm is such a special place, and my love for it's peace and tranquility grows every year. The car ride blew by fast, and we were on track to arrive at their farm in... I checked my GPS for the time... two hours, I thought sarcastically. I mean, as much as I love my aunt, two hours is a long time to be in a car ride. I looked at the blur of trees passing in my window. The gentle rocking of the car lulled me to sleep, and the darkness pulled me in.

My eyes fluttered open and I stretched out my body, and looked around. I felt the roll to a stop and my aunts tapping on my leg.

"Hey honey," Susanna said, "Wake up, we're here. The most exciting news is that... we built you your own room. So exciting right? We figured, Herman and I, that you would want your own room this summer. It would be crazy to live with Emma again. I mean she has energy, all the time. It's crazy. I really hope you like it though." She looked at me with a doubtful face.

I could tell that she was nervous. I mean that was really huge what they did for me. As much as I love my little cousin Emma, she is a crazy person. So I guess I should go check it out. Walking forward, my heel caught on a tiny, grey pebble sending my body backwards, arms flailing. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bucket drop and heard the sounds of feet pounding the ground. Looking up from my position on the ground I saw a boy. Roughly the age of 17 with dirty blond hair and brown eyes, rich and soft like velvety chocolate. His olive arm reached down towards me and I looked up to grab it. His teasing smile shined on me and I could feel myself start to smile back. I don't know what's happening. I've never felt like this before. I should shove these thoughts away, I couldn't, wouldn't survive another heartbreak.

Interrupting my thoughts, I heard a voice say, "Are you okay miss. That was quite a tumble."

I looked up and laughed, this guy was so formal. "Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little startled." Letting go of his hand, which I just realized I was still holding, I held out my other hand. " My name is Mira Brown. You are?" I prompted.

"Well, I am Leo Meyers of course," he blushed a little as he shook my hand hard. "I'm just a little new around here."

That would make sense I thought. I mean, I've never seen him around before. But I know all the neighbors so where would he even live? Breaking out of my thoughts, I looked around for my aunt, but she'd disappeared. I felt a trickle of warmth running down my leg. I looked down to see a giant scrape and lots of blood.

"That looks really bad. Do you need any help?" he said stepping closer to look at my leg.

This was odd behavior. Usually when I get lost in my thoughts, guys tend to get impatient. "I think my aunt ran inside to get some supplies," I looked around for her again. Slowly, I heard her heavy steps coming closer. "It was really nice to meet you Leo, but I probably should get going." I started to turn away.

"But wait," I turned, "Will I get to see you again?" he questioned.

This guy was weirdly obsessed. I mean we just met and for most of the time I was lost in my thoughts. This was definitely a situation I had not come across so far. That didn't matter anyways. I knew that no matter what I wanted, I couldn't afford any distractions, especially this summer. "We'll see," I started walking back towards my aunt's car.

He smiled and started to run backwards too. He tripped on a small pebble almost flying backwards. I laughed. A little, I mean it was funny. I only felt a little bad and he was smiling so that was a good sign. Turning around, my aunt appeared behind me suddenly.

"Let's take care of that scrape. It looks pretty bad," She sat down to get closer to the wound. "So I see you met the new neighbors huh. He's a nice kid. A little antisocial but cute nonetheless."

"Wait, what happened to our old neighbors?" I said nervously. Our old neighbors were the best. Mr. and Mrs. Parker were the cutest old couple ever! Their love for each other was so obvious. They were a little old though.

"Oh, they didn't die, so wipe that solemn look off your face. They just moved to an older care facility. Their son took over and brought his family here. They have a son, I think he's 17 like you," my aunt said as she wiped my leg down.

I could feel the alcohol burning my cut but I stayed quiet. I was really tired. I really hope that once my scrape is bandaged I can go inside.

"Hey kiddo, what are you thinking about?" Susana said.

"Oh, I am just ready for a fat nap. It's been an exhausting day." I said as I stretched upwards.

"Well, I can agree to that," she laughed as she finished wrapping the bandage around my cut, "Let me grab your bag and we can head inside."

"Okay," I said as I started walking into the house. It's rustic charm always got to me. It was so beautiful on the farm, and I am so ready to start my summer. Taking a deep breath, I took the doorknob in my hand and pushed the door open with a big smile on my face.
