"You better call me the second you get there, okay?" Carlee said as she pounced me into a hug.
"Yes, yes, I remember from the last ten thousand times you told me," I told her with a laugh.
"I'm serious, though. We're supposed to graduate together! Who am I gonna laugh at people with without you? Please don't leave!"
"Jaimie, the cars all packed! Lets go!" My moms voice said from across the street by our car.
"No!" Carlee shouted, grabbing my leg. "I'm not allowing you."
"Carlee, I promise I'll call you the second I get to the house. Even better, we can Skype. But that can't really happen if your latched onto my leg since I'll still be here and won't be able to call you since I won't be there and instead be here since it wouldn't happen," I told her in attempts of confusing her.
It worked, Carlee looking up at me with a confused look on her face as she slowly let go of my leg.
"What the heck was that?" She asked.
"Logic," I said with a joking smile on my face. "Now come here," I told her as I gave her a hand up and pulled Carlee into a hug.
We stayed like that for a minute. It's always been Carlee and I, ever since we were born. Neighbors from the start and automatic best friends. Sure, we had our fights, but Carlee and I had a friendship that could never be broken no matter what distance was put between us.
"I'll miss you, best friend."
"I'll miss you too, best friend."

We pulled up to the new house, the headlights showing us a small amount of brick that resembled what we had seen in the photo that my mom showed us of the house. I had never personally seen the house, only my parents had. It looked nice in the photo. Not nice enough to make me excited about the move, but nice.
I got my luggage from out of the car. The suitcases were packed with the things I'd need for my first few days here, just in case something happened to the u-haul on the way down. Plus, it would take me forever to unpack all the boxes and get all the things I needed out if them.
I walked down the front path and into the house. The door still had the realtor security device on it, showing that the house had been for sale. I couldn't see anything inside other than the staircase going up since there was little to no light. Carrying the luggage in my arms, I attempted to hike up the stairs. My arms strained from all the weight. I really should start going to the gym.
Once I got up, I took a look around. There were four bedrooms and looking into each one, I chose the one that had its own bathroom and good windows. It seemed like it would be a good size to fit my desk as well. There were already makeshift air mattresses in each bedroom, probably from my parents' anticipating our arrival.
I put my luggage down onto the hardwood ground and opened one up, looking for something to sleep in. Once I changed into them, I didn't even bother with anything else before flopping onto the air mattress and pulling my phone out to call Carlee.

I ended up staying awake until 2 in the morning talking to Carlee. Thankfully there's no time difference between here and my old town, even though its an 8 hour drive between them.
Waking up in the morning was a challenge. My mom already enrolled me at the school here, so I tried to stay in bed as long as possible. I usually go for a run in the mornings, but I didn't feel comfortable running by myself in an area that I'm not familiar with.
After I took my shower and did all that stuff, I had to shuffle through my suitcase to see what I actually decided to bring. I ended up bringing a couple pairs of jeans and a few sweaters and a coat. I threw on the jeans and my favorite pink sweater. I wanted to make a good impression today.
As I walked downstairs, I could smell the food cooking.
"Good morning, honey!" My mom said as she flipped a pancake in the pan. "Do you like the house?"
I hadn't really had a chance to look around much when we got here. My eyes glanced the area. The main floor was mainly open-concept and it was really spacious. This house was really a step up from our old home. The floors shined and bounced off the winter sunlight and made the space look bright against the white walls.
"It's nice, I like it," I said as I sat down at one of the bar stools that someone had already put up.
"Good," She said as she turned to me with my breakfast piled high on the plate. "Now eat up, you've got a very big day ahead of you."
"Oh, don't mind if I do," I said, stacking one pancake on top of another onto my plate.
