Ryder POV

As soon as I got home, I checked my messages. When I saw that Alyx was typing, my heart jumped. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get a text before. Should I be concerned? It didn't concern me too much. I really like Alyx. And even though I hadn't know her for that long, I knew that I wanted her.

But there was still so much that she was hiding. It was as if she was scared to open up, so she just didn't. The overwhelming smell of Italian food filled my nose. It was a shame that we were moving at the end of the week. It was kind of nice rooming with Hunter for these past two weeks. Oh well. We still had a few days.

Alyx: Hi

Ryder: How r u?

What else was I supposed to say to her? Most of the time when I was texting girls, it was a booty call.

Alyx: I saw you like 20mins ago.

Ryder: I'm trying to be polite!

My parents, well, my mum mainly, were deadset on teaching me to be a perfect gentleman. I guess they thought, that other people thought we would be bogans. Just because we were form Australia, didn't mean that we were necessarily bogans. I barely even swore. I only swore in desperate situations. Like when people annoyed me. And when I felt physical pain. And mental pain. Come to think of it, I swore a lot.

Alyx: I'm good. How was your first day?

Ryder: Good. But there was this rlly annoying girl in my

chemistry class.

Alyx: Do I know her?

Ryder: Probably. Hunter knew her. It's Matea Coulton.

I looked around the room while waiting for her response. Hunter was still taking a shower, so I was alone in his room. He really did have a lot of trophies. Maybe almost as many as the girls he had hooked up with. After a few minutes, I decided to see if Alyx was still online.

Ryder: R u still there?

Alyx: Yeah sorry. I do know Matea. She has quite the reputation.

Ryder: Hahaha, have u ever talked to her?

Hunter came back into the room. "Natalie keeps calling me." He complained. I shrugged, because I didn't really know the full extent to the history the two had. Only that Hunter didn't like Natalie at all, but she seemed to like him. Clingy girlfriends were bad enough. Having a clingy ex-girlfriend would just be absolute hell.

"Just don't pick up." I suggested.

"Yeah, no shit." He answered. I rolled my eyes and went back to my phone. He was obviously in a bad mood because of Natalie.

Alyx: Yeah, you could say that.

Ryder: Was she nice to you?

Alyx: I don't think she's nice to anyone.

I thought back to my chemistry lesson this morning and I still had no idea why Matea was so rude to everyone. However, I had two theories. One was that she was just a bitch. The other was that she had had a bad day. But to reach the level of rudeness she was at, she must have been having a really bad year.

Ryder: She scares me.

Alyx: lmao. I know what u mean.

Ryder: Yeah, she seems to have that effect on people.

Alyx: Yeah.

Ryder: Wyd?

Alyx: I just got home. You?
