sorry for the delay! I had writer's block and I was quite preoccupied.... :/ i hope the wait was worth it... I think this chapter is quite boring in the beginning :/ anyways, happy reading! :)

I was woken up by the beeping sound from my alarm clock. I threw my alarm clock from my bedside table all the way to the other end of my room but miraculously, it is still beeping.  I rolled off my bed, walked across the room and turned the alarm off. What time is it? I thought while rubbing the sleep off my eyes. I glanced at the clock and to my dismay; I have to be at work in 15 minutes.

I quickly took a bath and ran to the bus stop. I took a seat next to the window and paid the bus conductor.

I started to run when the bus came to a halt in front of the main entrance of the mall. My body was halfway through the entrance of the bookstore when I bumped into someone.

“Oh, sorry!” the person said. I saw Tim when I looked up. I tried to get past Tim but he stopped me from doing so by putting his hands on my shoulders. I tried to brush him off but he just tightened his grip.

“Did you get my note?” he asked while looking into my eyes. I had no other choice but to reply since I had no other way to escape. I decided to say yes to everything he said or asked, so he would let me go.

I repeated the same word for about three times when Tim said, “I’ll pick you up at 7 tonight.”

What have I done? I should’ve listened to what Tim was saying. Now I have no other choice but to go on that date with him if I don’t want risk losing my job.

Hope rushed to me once I entered the store. “I saw the whole thing, Al. What did Tim want? He didn’t bully you, right? If he did, I swear I’ll...” Hope said before I cut her off.

“He asked me out on a date and I wasn’t listening so I just said yes to everything he said. I was shocked when he said he’ll pick me up at 7 tonight. What am I supposed to do, Hope? I don’t even like Tim!”

“Maybe you should just go on that date with him.” I gave Hope a stern look. “Look on the bright side; at least you’ll get free food. You can just fake an illness after the two of you have finished eating.”

“You’re a genius, Hope! What can I do to repay you for all the times you’ve helped me?”

“I want to go on a date with Harry Styles.”

I look at her in disbelief before saying, “If I can find him, then I will kidnap him and bring him to you.” The two of us then laughed, earning a couple of dirty looks from the customers.

My shift ended before lunch, so I bade farewell to Hope and rode the bus home. My phone beeped, notifying me that I have received a new email. I clicked the app and I saw that Kyle had sent me an email.

“Sorry for the late reply, Alex. I had some errands to do. To be honest, I haven’t started reading the book yet... :/ Do you mind if I call you? Maybe we can talk to each other on the phone; if you don’t mind, of course. Goodnight.... or good morning :) -K”

I replied him back with, “Yeah sure, you can call me anytime :) – A”

I stepped inside my house and baked lasagne. While waiting for the microwave to beep, I looked around me and began listing off things.

My name is Alex. I am 18, soon to be 19. I am working at a bookstore while waiting for my college admittance.  My best friend is Hope, who is also my co-worker. I don’t plan on having a boyfriend in the near future and there are no boys do far that have caught my eye yet. I have five new friends; Wayne, Ian, Barry, Hughie and Kyle. I am somehow getting closer to Kyle but I don’t think we’ll be more than friends. I mean, he seems nice and he seems good looking, despite not seeing his face yet.
