'Well... are you going to tell me about these secrets' Scott repeated after I didn't answer him.
Honestly I didn't really trust him. I knew if I told him anything he was bound to cause trouble. So I told him that, wondering how long this friendship was going to last.
'No, I don't trust you' I stated, quite bluntly, not meeting his eye.
Scott tilted his head in confusion, and thought out my answer. Finally after what seemed like forever he spoke. 'Why not?' He questioned, though I thought the answer was pretty obvious.
'Before this morning I've never talked to you, ever. And from what I've seen I think you would do a lot of damage if I told you all these secrets.' I replied clearly, confidence with every word.
Scott looked hurt. 'You can't judge a book by its cover, you've only seen what I do. Right now I'm proving that I'm not just a troublemaker' he said looking upset .
I almost rolled my eyes with the quote, but stayed strong on my reasoning. 'I don't feel comfortable talking to you about all these secrets just yet' I said.
'Well let me prove to you that you can trust me' Scott stated, with a look of determination on his face getting up off the bench we were sitting on. I nodded taking a last look at the river as I trudged down the footpath following Scott, limping slightly as I was still in a bit of pain.
After walking behind Scott for a while I began to daydream. It was nice. I daydreamed often, usually using the scenery around me and sometimes music to create fun scenarios that entertained me. And this scenery was perfect for daydreaming.
We were walking down a concrete path that was falling apart the further we went, on the left there was the river trailing out to the ocean, and to the right empty construction sites. The sky was cloudy but sun still peeked through. The only sounds heard were footsteps, breathing and the waves in the river. Just perfect.
'Nat?' Scott questioned turning around as he stopped walking, pulling me out of my dream. 'Hmmmm yeah?' I murmured, not quite back in reality. 'C'mon hurry up, I wanna show you this before rain hits ' he said with some urgency. 'Rain?' I said, my head still in the clouds. 'Yes rain, it's going to come any time now and I don't particularly want to get wet.' Scott said, a little frustrated. 'Oh okay, sorry' I apologised finally coming to my senses. 'Don't be' Scott replied, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. He didn't let go even when I had caught up.
