"You're about to see the scariest thing on Earth," Syo warned. Today, you, Natsuki and Syo were making cakes desserts for children at an orphanage. This was at the request by the one and only, Saotome Shining. Syo said if you valued your life you wouldn't come, but you disregarded his warning.
"It can't be that bad Kurusu-kun, besides I'll make sure when it's in the oven it won't burn," you reassured him.
"That's if it makes it into the oven," he said watching Natsuki carefully. Your eyebrows rose quizzically. Natsuki skillfully cracked eggs and your worry began to alleviate. He appeared to know what to do and it seemed your cooking expertise weren't needed. You went to grab an apron in the cabinet.
"STOP NATSUKI! STOP!" Syo screamed. You turned around and were horrified watching what ingredients Natsuki was putting into the cake.
"I'll just add some Tabasco sauce and chili sauce," he stated while pouring bright red liquid entered the batter colouring it.
"And then fermented squid!" he exclaimed cheerfully while the tentacles slid into the mixture.
"Finally, I'll finish it off with fermented beans!" he added and then poured the beans into the horrifying mixture.
"You said you had to make these quickly?" Natsuki inquired cheerfully.
"What? Why?" you asked worried.
"I'll just use this to cook them faster!" he exclaimed with a blow torch in hand. The colour from your face, along with Syo's, drained.
"NO! STOP!" Syo screamed as Natsuki turned on the device. Fire spewed everywhere. It was at such an extreme heat the fire was coloured blue. Shades of blue flashed before your eyes. You held onto Syo for dear life.
"Done!" Natsuki announced, "They have a perfect chocolate brown!" You peeked your head out of Syo's chest to look at the cake. You were mortified. The cake was burnt beyond recognition and was the colour of charcoal black. You gripped Syo's shirt tighter.
"Time to try them!" Natsuki announced cheerfully. You froze in terror.
"Run!" Syo shouted. He grabbed your hand and started running. You clumsily followed him and ran on instinct. Behind you Natuski's joyful calls were behind you, but it sounded like sick crooning considering his prompts was to consume his toxic "cakes".
"In here!" Syo shouted while pulling you into a closet. He slammed the door shut, locking it.
"Syo-chan! Come and try it!" Natsuki called out. Syo pulled you close and slapped a hand over your mouth.
"Otoya~ Have you seen Syo-chan or __________-chan?" Natsuki inquired while standing right before the closet. Your eyes ducked down and saw his shoes.
"No, sorry Natsuki-kun," Otoya replied.
"Then you try some of the cake!" Natsuki said happiness oozing from his voice.
"HEH?! No, I can't!" Otoya declined, "I have to go!" You could hear him beginning to break into a run.
"Come back Otoya!" Natsuki called out while chasing him. You sighed a breath of relief. Syo loosened his grip on you.
"That was a close one," Syo said leaning against the wall. Soon you two were sitting and panting after running for so long.
"Agreed, poor Ittoki-kun though," you said, and thought rather him than you.
"Argh! Why would Shining make the three of us bake cakes? Just think about Natsuki's cooking skills!" Syo exclaimed getting fired up.
"I'm not sure," you answered. The mere thought of those so-called cakes made you shiver.
"Why would he do that? All you do is waste ingredients and time!" Syo said with annoyance and
aggravation laced in his tone. You shrugged in response."Perhaps for fun?" you suggested.
"Fun?! Not only is Natsuki's cooking lethal, but we could've been burnt by the blow torch!" he
heatedly rebutted."True, but Shinomiya-kun's intentions were good," you pointed out.
"But in the end the cakes are deadly! What's the point?!" he vented.
"That's not the point Kurusu!" you remarked.
"Then what is?" he questioned exasperated.
"These cakes will go towards children who have no home. Who are given the minimal and may have never even tasted a cake. Christmas is about more than pretty lights, big presents and grand cakes. Christmas brings people together and creates happiness! The point isn't to make the best tasting cake ever. This isn't a competition! It's about giving to the less fortunate and giving them a source of joy a day where everyone should be happy," you explained. An uncomfortable silence lingered between you.
"Sorry for getting so worked up, __________-chan. Christmas is about giving too, right?" Syo apologized.
