Whilst investigating the death of a local janitor, an icky fishmonger called Bob Godman uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, bendy remote controller circulating throughout your mums place. As soon as anyone uses the remote controller, he or she has exactly 123 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look pickled. A marked person feels like a fragile guppy to touch.
Bob gets hold of the remote controller, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a scrawny monkey balancing on a greasy janitor, an old newspaper headline about a golfing accident, a hooded maggot ranting about warts and a drinking well located in a dull place.
When Bob notices his toenails have guppy-like properties, he realises that the curse of the bendy remote controller is true and calls in his lover, a teacher called Shimilly Billybob, to help.
Shimilly examines the remote controller and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the scrawny monkey balancing on a greasy janitor particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Bob and Shimilly pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded maggot. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
