"I-I don't fucking know!" Stella's hand ran through her long luscious hair. Stress kicked in and her pace quickened. She began chipping on her nails as a toddler would hold onto his mother. Her chest tightened and her breaths came in ragged. Her body shivered under the cold and her legs were turning strings within every second. She was losing control over herself and the person in front of her couldn't care any less."Quit panicking Stella, it is not a big deal," his smoothness failed to reach her ringing ears.
"W-we could get...killed for this shit, Jacob," she managed to utter a few words under her panic. The guy re-positioned himself and reached out to Stella. His hand brushed her head as she stared blankly into his cocoa eyes.
"Want to see him?" with this question, Stella's eyes widened and she tried to form a few sentences expressing her denial. The boy took no time and swung his bag forward so that the opening was near his chest. Stella stood baffled and moved no inch. The boy's fingers traced the metallic zipper as he dragged it open. Each tick of the zip was a trigger of a bomb for the fear-stricken girl.
From under the confines of the bag emerged a small creature about the size of a handful. Dim flames lit his fragile frame. Its warmth hit against her frozen attire and her tensed shoulder sunk from relaxation. A pair of tiny eyes greeted her. An emerald lake ran through those little marbles and she found it almost mesmerizing. A squeal erupted from the creature as it jumped up and down cheerfully. She took a step back.
"No, don't let it close me," she whispered.
The dragon suddenly whimpered and settled on the boy's hand with a sad aura. The boy let out an exasperated sigh stroking his dark hair.
"Look, Stella, you made the poor guy sad," he tsked.
"I-I didn't!!" she got on the very edge of nervousness. Stella stomped her foot and took longer strides to get out of the park. She couldn't wrap her mind around as to why the boy was so hell-bent on making her friends with a threatening creature.
"Yes, you did. Hey! Where are you going?" the lanky lad quickened his pace in order to catch up with the fleeing female.
"Take a hint, Jacob! Leave me alone," she shouted.
"Alright alright, you win," he stopped midway. Jacob clapped his hands together and put the creature back in its place.
"Just pet it for me? He seems pretty sad after your outburst," Jacob insisted.
"Oh for the love of my sanity, Jacob! Do you want my fingerprints on that thi...thing?" she questioned.
"What?" he tilted his head in confusion.
"I do not want to be an accomplice to treason, Jacob! You're wild, I'm not," she whisper-shouted. Her hair flung in the opposite direction as she tried to face the man. He could sense the patience draining from her veins but he wasn't letting his new friend get sad either.
