Hayley sat in the back seat of the large SUV behind Derek and JJ, her dad sitting next to her. Hotch, Rossi and Emily rode in the other car. "Uncle Derek, can you come over one day? Oh, and bring your dog! Dogs may not like daddy, but they like me." She grinned proudly. Derek took his eyes off the road and looked at her briefly from the rear view mirror, he smiled widely and replied, "Sure kid" Before placing his gaze back on the road. Hayley squealed happily and did a little dance in her seat, clapping her hands giddily. JJ looked into the back and smiled fondly at the young girl who now sat cuddled into her father's side with a content smile on her face.

Spencer pulled his daughter a bit closer to him, closing his eyes with relief. Saving other children from kidnappers is one thing, but saving your own child is another thing entirely. He never really appreciated how worried and distraught the parents really were until it was his own flesh and blood taken from him. He didn't know what he would do if someone hurt her. 'Probably die' he decided.

"Can we get ice-cream uncle Morgan?" Her voice was pleading and sad- As if she thought he would say no.
"Sure baby girl." he said smiling "We have to be quick though, we gotta get you to the bureau." she squealed happily again.
Spencer's heart began to ease at the sound and decided he wouldn't make Hayley sleep in her own bed tonight. She could stay in his and they would read The Narrative of John Smith before bed and everything can start going back to normal.

[a/n - hi guys, i wrote this story way back in 2014 when i was 13 (hence the plotholes and unrealistic dialogue) and while y'all have been asking for an update for a very long time, i simply do not have the passion for this story anymore so this is about as good an ending as i can conjure up in 20 minutes. thankyou all so much for reading my story, i apologize for the wait and the abrupt (and frankly shitty) ending. have a lovely rest of your week ♡]
