Omniscient:
Onika pushed her shades up over her eyes as she settled back into her seat. She always hated these stupid board meetings. Plus she was high out of her pretty little mind right now so she really wasn't in the mood to converse.
All she wanted at the moment was a crunch wrap from Taco Bell and a nice long nap. But she was a boss and she had to handle business. No matter how many pills she had in her system.
Four...maybe five, honestly she wasn't even keeping count anymore.
She was popping close to twenty percs a day over the last few months to numb her pain. The conference room door swung open and Onika looked up to see her best friend and business partner, Beyoncé Knowles walking into the room with a confused expression on her face.
"Is there a reason you're wearing sunglasses inside?" Beyonce raised her perfectly arched eyebrow as she shuffled through the papers in her hands that held the key topics for today's meeting.
"Headache." Onika lied.
Beyoncé shook her head looking at her best friend with concern now.
"Were you drinking again last night?" She asked.
There had been a complete shift in Onika's personality since her breakup with Robyn over six months ago. It was like she was there but not really all the way there.
"Yup." Onika answered. "So let's just get this over with because my head is killing me." She massaged her temples intensely as the room began to fill with members of the board.
Beyoncé sighed before directing her attention to the board members. She gave them all a warm welcoming smile as she began the meeting.
Onika was zoned out by the first few sentences. Thank god her eyes were covered by dark Dior shades because she was nodding off every few minutes.
"Alright, that concludes our meeting for the day, thank you everyone." Beyoncé gathered her things and made her way out of the conference room. She moved swiftly enough to catch up to the shorter woman.
"Hey, you got a minute? I wanna talk to you." Her hand pressed softly onto Onika's shoulder.
"For you? Of course, your office or mine?"
"Yours is fine, it's closer."
They walked alongside one another until they approached Onika's door. Her assistant, Safaree was organizing something on his desk but was quickly interrupted as Onika snapped her long acrylics in his face.
