The Thief - An Overwatch OC Story

Chapter 1

EIN POV

All I could remember was extreme pain followed by a bright light and then darkness. I thought I was dead and I was to live for eternity in the void. Little did I know it wasn't that simple.

I could feel what felt like a hospital bed underneath me, I opened my eyes to see a room with a bunch hospital equipment and a computer desk to the side of me. I tried to move my arm to see the makeshift computer that I made in my wrist but all I could feel was excruciating pain and I immediately dropped my arm back down on to the bed. I would try to use voice command to turn on the computer but I didn't want to alert anyone. I then heard the door open with a beep to then see a woman with blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and glasses standing by the hospital bed.

"Oh! Good, you're awake. You've been asleep for a couple of days now. By the way, I am Dr.Angela Ziegler or most people will know me as Mercy, you are at one of the Overwatch bases currently. We saved you from the rubble after an explosion had happened, you're extremely lucky we found you and not the search and rescue team otherwise you'd probably end up in prison." Angela had informed me. The fact that she had mentioned I would probably end up in prison definitely had confirmed that these people know that I'm a thief. "I'm also sorry to say that your cybernetics will need to be replaced with newer ones and that the bottom half of your right leg had to be fully replaced with a cybernetic one." Angela had told me. 'GodDamn, it could I become any more robotic?!' Angela probably noticed me annoyed and asked if I was ok I said I was completely fine although it was a complete lie. I never liked being around people let alone strangers.

ANGELA'S POV

I could tell that they were lying when they said they were fine. People have lied to me enough times for me to able to tell when someone is telling me the truth. I can tell they're full of self-hatred much like Genji was.

Hopefully, Jack will let them join the team, they could be very useful to us with their skills in sneak and making tech-related things.

EIN POV

Just as Angela walked out of the door my makeshift computer started ringing. Of course, why wouldn't Indigo call me?

"Hey Ein where the fuck have you been? It's almost been a fucking week and I haven't seen you" Indigo badgered "Indigo calm the fuck down I need to tell you something" I had groggily told him "ok... I'm listening" He answered "ok good. So I'm now currently in one of the overwatch bases. Apparently, an explosion happened and I was caught in it and they found me" I had informed "Wait what the actual fuck?! You're currently in an overwatch base? You do realize that they'll know literally everything about you?" Indigo was clearly surprised and concerned "yes I am aware of that Indigo" I had commented.

ANGELA POV

"Jack, please listen to me Ein will be a useful asset to the team, they made a full-on makeshift computer in their wrist for god's sake." I had pointed out " Angela please don't take this the wrong way but they are a criminal" Jack had stated "Well that didn't stop Jesse or Genji, plus now the whole organization is illegal now. So why not?" I had countered "please just think about it, Jack" I had encouraged

I had walked back into the room where Ein was to see them talking with someone. "Yes, I am aware of that Indigo" Ein had commented on something that Indigo had said I'm assuming. "Hey Indigo I got to go, I need to talk with someone" Ein had sighed after seeing me walk into the room, Ein hung up on the call.

"May I ask who that was?" I had asked, "that was Indigo. He's an old coworker of mine, we worked at a tech shop. He installed the makeshift computer in my wrist." Ein revealed. "But I thought we disabled the computer since I couldn't remove it" I vacillated, "You can't disable the computer itself but you did disable the A.I that's in it" Ein corrected me, "Oh" I hesitated "I guess that would make sense"

"Anyway did you need something?" Ein puzzled "Well I did ask Jack if he would let you join us but he has yet to decide" I sighed.

EIN POV

'So these people are actually considering on getting me to join them. Lovely.' I wasn't necessarily pleased or displeased with the fact that they were considering letting me join, it would at least get me away from constantly needing to steal things for Indigo to fix up and then sell.

"Anyway, you need to get a lot of rest. That explosion would leave your body in quite the shock." Angela acknowledge "How long will it take for me to recover?" I inquired "Well, considering that your cybernetics took most of the force from the explosion, you'll need less rest but you'll still need it. So I would look around about at least a week or two but there's nothing wrong with more rest." Angela clarified

"Well, I should let you rest now." Angela decided "Just press this button if you need anything" she showed me a button on the wall beside the bed "Someone should come here with dinner in a couple of hours" she informed me.
