Ricky's POV:
After sacrificing myself to save Rob and his wife, they set the two free and Hyde had me chained by the door to his warehouse. He had a plan that he assured me would work and he knew my friends wouldn't be able to resist coming to my rescue. Hyde sent one of his henchmen to patrol the area in bat form while he and Kaz disappeared somewhere.
My mind kept going back to Chris. The last moments I laid eyes on him and probably the last I would ever see of him. I hung my head as tears threatened to escape my eyes as my mind replayed his last words to me.
In another life....
I wanted nothing more than to be with the man I fell in love with all those years ago. The man who saved me, raised me, gave me another chance in life. My heart felt like it was literally shattered in two and a tear ran down my cheek, landing on the ground in front of me. I was sitting with my back against the concrete wall, hugging my knees up to my chest and looking up to the night sky. It feels like it's been dark for hours, I didn't even know what time it was. But it felt like it was way past midnight already. My stomach made a low growl and I realized how hungry I was. I wish Hyde could've at least left me something to eat. Almost as if he was reading my mind, I heard footsteps approaching, my ears perking up. I lifted my head to see two figures coming towards me but my eyes could easily tell who they were despite it being dark.
Sebastian and Emerson.
My ears laid flat against my head as the two brothers came up to me and that's when I noticed Emerson holding two bowls in his hands. Emerson smiled softly and carefully kneeled down to set the bowls in front of me. One bowl held warm milk and the other had steaming fish and broccoli on the side. My mouth instantly began to water at how delicious the food smelled. I peered up at the two cautiously and they responded with a small nod and friendly smile. Almost immediately I picked up the bowl of fish and scooped a piece up with my hand, my claws already poking out. The fish melted in my mouth and I had to hold back a moan because of how good it was. As I was eating, the two brothers had pulled up to metal chairs to sit in front of me.
"Our mother used to cook for us a lot when we were younger. We learned a lot from her in the kitchen."
Emerson folded his legs together, his hands on his lap. One thing I noticed about him was how proper he was, especially with how he dresses and presents himself. My mouth was stuffed with broccoli as he spoke to me, and I swallowed it all so I could speak but before I opened my mouth, Sebastian spoke up.
"Hyde didn't send us, so you can be comfortable. We're not monsters who will just let you starve."
I stayed silent looking down at the ground to the bowl of milk and I felt my insides calling for it. I quickly picked up the bowl and nearly chugged all of the milk in seconds. I could feel some milk dripping down my chin and I wiped it off with the back of my hand. Out of instinct I started licking the back of my hand like the fucking cat that I am. But one thing kept crossing my mind among several other things.
"Why did you turn Remington against us?" My eyes narrowed as I glared at the two brothers who furrowed their brows at me.
"We...Ricky you don't understand. We didn't turn him against-"
"Bullshit!" I picked up one of the bowls and threw it to the side causing it to break against the concrete. Something inside of me snapped, almost like a wild animal had been waiting to just escape through my body like it's been locked away for years. For once in a long time, I was furious.
"Ricky please listen, we had no choice. You all think this was all Rob and Sheri's doing? Hyde and Kaz just used them to get to the top with them. They never cared for the pair." Sebastian stated.
