Eri's POV

What is this? It feels like I am floating in... space. It's so...peaceful in here. It feels like nothing can harm me in here. Slowly, I close my eyes, taking in the tranquility this place has to offer. Suddenly, I feel a pressure pulling me out after... how long has it been? I don't know but the pressure is getting stronger, and stronger until I see myself in a...

Room which has more than healthy amounts of  white for a normal person. I rapidly blink my eyes, all the white disorienting my vision. Once there are no more spots in my vision, I look around to check out the room. There's a curtain by the right side of my bed, there's also a table by my bed, a window on the left side of the room and a clock on the wall in front of me. There's no doubt in my mind. I am in a hospital. But what am I doing here? The last thing I remember is...

"Oh..."

I speak out loud as the events of the night came to the forefront of my mind. After the rage burst, I think I...collapsed? Anyways, after that, I found myself in the-newly-christened Void. I wonder what happened between the time I collapsed and me waking up in the hospital. I break my line of thought as I hear the curtains being pull aside by a old, kind-looking doctor. He looks a bit surprised, maybe because I woke up sooner than they expected? The doctor gives me a glass of water which I gratefully accept. After that, he asks if I am feeling alright. Before I get to answer, there's a knock on the door. He stands up and goes to answer the door.

After a short while the doctor came back, with a visitor who's dressed in a detective uniform. A rather plain-looking man, with some distinguishing feature. The doctor leaves the room, leaving me and Detective to our own privacy. The Detective sits down on a nearby chair by the window and introduces himself as Naomasa Tsukauchi. 'So this is the famous Tsukauchi, huh?' I wonder to myself as he pulls out his notebook and pen. He had given me the offer to do this at a later time but I rejected it, wanting to get this done with as soon as possible.

The interview went by smoothly, with him interrupting me a few times  to get more specific details. I told him all that I remembered (except about the Void, because I have no intention to be sent to an asylum, thank you very much)

At the end, I asked him about what had happened during the time I was unconscious. He gives a long sigh before he proceeds to tell me about some heavy information.

"These are mostly speculations , but from what you have told me today, the trauma from all the events caused your quirk to activate. Your quirk is a bit of an anomaly in itself. I think that you may be able to find some information about it in your family library. Ahh! I almost forgot."

He feverishly digs into his coat and pulls out a small book . The book had its fair share of wear and tear, but it still looked...important. He hands the book to me with the following words,

"Your grandfather had left me with this book. He told me to give it to you if I ever got the chance."

My...grandfather? I don't know much about him, except that he was very respected in the whole clan and was one of the key members of the War. I take the book and place it on my bedside table. The Detective settles down on his seat once more and resumes his story.

"Anyways, if you are wondering why you are in the hospital, you were found knocked out on the street and there was a hole in the second floor of your house. Most likely, your quirk activated and you gave a blind chase after...Izuku when he was trying to escape and you punched a hole through the wall in order to chase him."

Okay, does that mean I have a strength-enhancing quirk? But the name I remember is Corpse Bone Chain...maybe my quirk enhances my bones or something? Guess I will find about later on. Or maybe...the detective may know something? I decide to ask him to get rid of the gnawing curiosity in my mind.

"All I know about your quirk is that it controls your bones. You had bones sticking out of your forearms like blades when you were found out."

That's as much as awesome as it is...potentially dangerous. Tsukauchi-san must have sensed my apprehension regarding my quirk's effects on my body as he explains.

"Your quirk does not harm your body in any way. The doctor's reports state that the bones coming out of your arms were duplicates. Its like a half-emitter, half-mutation quirk, you could say."

That's...interesting, to say the least. A quirk that makes bones pop out of my body and also enhances them while doing no harm to my body. A quirk that seemingly has no drawbacks takes a lot of time to control and master. I think I will find out more in the Yakuza Library. Anyways, I take a look at the clock and see that the night's about to begin.

I say my farewells to Tsukauchi-san and thank him for the book once again as he gets ready to leave. He throws the following words behind his back before he closes the door.

"I will be by tomorrow, to acquaint you with your new guardian."

My new guardian? I wonder who is it? As far as I know, all my blood relatives are dead. Maybe a distant relation or something? Anyways, I lie back down and check the book that was apparently my grandfather's. The title says 'Sentience Of Quirks'. Interesting...I think this might just be the book I need. Cuz, I have a funny feeling that my quirk isn't what it seems to be. I flip to the first chapter which talks about the concept of sentience, both of the Old World and this one.

The Old World had quite the small criteria for calling something sentient. Capable of emotion,  ability to sense and perceive; only these characteristics were required to call something sentient. But since the quirks appearance, the criteria has widened considerably. It now includes having basic consciousness and limited ability to think (like a human being). You may ask why these characteristics were added. The reason is that the appearance of quirks is like an evolution of our race,a sudden evolution that also triggered small evolution in animals. They now hunted and behaved in a manner more human-like. In simpler terms, they began to hunt like Homo Habilis but there were no changes in their outside appearance. Their brains have shown advancements when compared to those from the Old World. The reason for this is still not found, though theories have been floating around for quite the while.

- Excerpt from 'Sentience Of Quirks' , written by Orion Kazuo

After completing the first chapter, I close the book. That was some heavy information, no doubt. This Orion guy must have been an old dude to know this much about the Old World and The Transition. But still, this was just barely scratching the surface. I place the book on the table and shut off the lights, staring at the ceiling fan as if it had some answers. With questions lingering in my mind, I fall asleep.

AN : There you have it, guys! I was wondering whether I should add some things but I decided against it. After the next part, there's gonna be a time skip to UA Entrance Arc. I will add some 'interviews' in between major events to give info regarding some important changes.

As mentioned in the previous chapter, any criticism is very much appreciated.
