Hi! Here's a quick a/n before you start reading!
This is an assignment I did for my English class! It was turning film into text!
This is based off of the short film "Borrowed Time" (it's linked right above this note).
I recommend reading this first and then watching the film! But to each their own óvò
Surprisingly I got 100% on this lol
I am really proud of this story! So I hope you enjoy!

A disheveled willowy man stands before a barren cliff edge. Dark looming clouds envelop the sky making everything dull. Wind howls around him. He lets out a defeated sigh and removes his hat, taking it in both of his guilt ridden hands.

On a carriage pulled by two horses a thin young boy slouches in his seat with his head resting in his hands. Beside him is his father who is sitting proudly, grasping the reins of the carriage. Father pulls out a watch from his breast pocket, opening and adjusting it. Closing the watch he glances at his bored son.

The late afternoon sun reflects off of the watch and shines into the boy's eye, making him direct his gaze to his father. Father offers the boy his watch winking at him with a smirk. He drops the tarnished watch in the boy's hands startling him at first, then making his eyes light up in awe. Whoa! Is dad really letting me hold his watch? This is so cool! After messing up the boy's short brown hair, he plops his worn hat onto the kids head. Since the hat was angled down blocking his vision, he adjusts it and looks up smiling brightly at his father. This is the best day ever! I'm real happy I didn't stay home!

He sighs as the bags under his eyes drag his gaze down. Wind lightly blows through his brown, grey hair. Limping through the wreckage towards the edge of the cliff he suddenly steps in front of an old horse skeleton, wincing at the sight of it.

Letting out another sigh, the man looks to the edge of the cliff, remembering what occured here and the reason why he came back. Taking in a deep breath he moves forward stepping over the worn skeleton. Thunder booms like a gun.

Suddenly the father and son duo are being chased by another carriage pulled by horses. Pitwing! One of the men in the other carriage shot at them, hitting the hat off of the boy's head, causing him to yelp and duck down, clutching the top of his head.

Wincing at the memory he limps faster towards the edge.

Swiftly, the father throws the reins into the boy's thin hands, bringing him closer and reassuring him. "You can do this."

What? How am I- Pitwing! Another shot is fired at them. Ok I got this, I can do this. J-just focus. Briskly father turns back, loads his shotgun, and aims... BOOM!

Grunting he quickens, getting closer and closer to the edge, attempting to run away from that day.

The carriage shakes abruptly, almost knocking the father off. "Steady," he yells, quickly turning to his son.

Turning back to the path in front of them the boy's eyes widen. Crap! Pulling back on the reins sharply, the carriage runs over a pile of rocks causing it to shake and knock the boy off before his father could catch him. He clings to the reins, they are the only thing keeping him from being left behind and killed.

The man stumbles. Gasping for air. Clouds making everything darker.

One of the wheels fly off of the carriage abruptly, causing the structure to collapse and making the horses scream.

He falls to his knees, his hat slipping from his grasp. Staring up at the sky hopelessly, he searches for a reason, the wind still blows through his hair.
