Derek woke to the sunlight streaming through the glass pains. His vision was crystal clear, thanks to his wolf side, as he tried to recall the memories of last night. Stiles had helped him, made an excuse to leave so he could calm down. Then he remembered that Stiles would have actually had to come up with a genuine theory to present at the pack meeting later. It would take hours to do that, which means if he actually did find a theory he would've had to stay up all night.

Derek snapped out of his thoughts blinking a few times, why did he care if Stiles slept? Maybe he was still drained from the other night. He reached over and checked his phone which was plugged in, Stiles must've done that. It was nearly one in the afternoon, he'd never slept that later before. He pushed the covers off with his free hand and stood up. He placed his phone back on the side table and cracked his neck as he walked towards the bathroom. He needed to take a shower, he could still smell faint traces of smoke.

Stiles~

So the best he'd come up with during his all nighter was a siren. Which was strange because there were only a few lakes around Beacon hills. Not nearly enough for a siren to function properly which meant that it would have to be a cross. A sort of chimera, he shivered at the thought but what was it mixed with. He snuck out of his room and peaked down the stairs. His dad wasn't by the dinner table, so he walked down further and stopped by the stacks of case files. He double checked to make sure he wasn't anywhere and flipped open the first file. Nearly throwing up at the sight he covered the dead body and focused on the written report.

John Doe was found near the edge of a small fresh water pond. There are no signs of struggle at the scene which raises suspicion, there were thoughts of alcohol or another debilitating substance. One that would allow the murder of this victim without a fight. However, the fox-screens came back negative for any and all suspected substances. The body, as examined by the coroner, was discovered to have a strange unsettling cause of death. The victim's heart seems to have removed, dissected and then placed back in the chest cavity. This however was performed post mortem, the actual cause of death is still unknown. Further testing will need to commence.

Stiles's nose scrunched up at the thought of a heart dissection. Just as he was about to flip through the next file he heard footsteps, carefully and quickly he closed The file and turned to open the fridge just as his dad walked in the room.

"Hey Stiles, excited for the game tonight?" He asked, grabbing a mug out of the cupboard. Stiles froze for a second wondering how he forgot the game, he used the time his father took to place the cup under the keurig to collect himself.

"Yeah definitely, I don't remember who were playing though. Are you coming or do you have to work cause if you do it's totally and completely fine, I mean all I really do is sit on the bench right? I could give you a personal performance sitting on the bench in the station" he rambled, a habit he picked up when he was nervous. Trying to fill the space of uncomfortable tension with words.

"Woah take a breath son, and yes I'm coming tonight. You'll never know maybe you'll play?" His dad suggested sipping from his coffee.

"That chance is like zero to none." He started deciding on an apple and closing the fridge.

"You never know son, a few months ago the chance of werewolves was pretty slim," he said, nudging Stiles's arm as he walked past. "Anyway I've gotta run, see you at the game son"

"Bye dad" Stiles called out as his father locked the door. Who decides to have a lacrosse game on a Saturday, he groaned dragging a tired hand across his face. He'd probably pass out before he even stepped foot on the field. Tossing the apple core he trudged back upstairs to get changed, planning on asking Scott to practice.
