The fire came to life in the black manor. A girl stepped out, startling a young Regulus who had chosen that as his place to read.

He recognized her instantly, be it the number of freckles taking over her pale body or, the white bandage that covered her left forearm, or the jagged scar that went from the bottom of her jaw all the way to the opposite shoulder.

"Is your father home, Reg?"
She spoke controlled taking another step forward, glancing at the family tree, taking note of the burnt spot where Sirius' face was, before looking back at the boy who was putting a slip of paper in the book.
It confirmed what she had thought to be true already, she had lot's of work to do, and fast.

"He's in his office, shall I show you?"

"Please, "

The two of them silently made the walk to the office, a nod, and an apologetic smile from the girl served as a goodbye before she knocked waiting for an answer to open the door.
Orion's office was empty, save for two bookshelves on each wall holding several family heirlooms and a family portrait behind him. Sirius was still intact in this, had he not agreed with his wife?

"Lord Black, I do hope I'm not interrupting anything?" She lowered her head before looking back up at the man.

"Not at all, come in, heiress Gaunt."

"Please, Cahoime is just fine, you are going to be my father in law one day."

"So your father agreed to the terms?"

She shut the door behind herself and put up a silencing charm before sliding into the chair in front of the desk pulling out two potions.
She had no time for small talk, being in this house without an escort was risky enough for their reputation, not to mention the danger of leaving her own manor with no warning of where she was going or that she was going out at all.

"I come here to warn you, both against my father, and your wife. The only reason he agreed was to get closer to your house."
He hardened his look on her.

"My father and her plan on dragging the house of Black fully into the dark side, and I know you are readily against it. That means they need you out of the way."

"And how do you suppose they do that? I would think you would support your father in such actions."
She handed the bottles over.

"He and I do not agree on most subjects, getting Sirius to leave, be it one way or another. Taking the hier you've trained since birth away puts pressure on your house," Her hand unconsciously traced the scars on her neck,
"I am willing to show you memory's if you do not believe me. I also wouldn't trust her with anyone's safety, be it Regulus's or yours."
She let down the traps in her mind as he took his wand out.

Her eye twitched as he entered her mind, she pushed the memories of the conversation between her father and his wife, and another that she had had with Sirius once while waiting for her father to be done with their meeting.
He pulled out and a concerned look dawned his face.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I will have to reconsider where my wife stands in this household. "

Perhaps this would be easier than she thought.
"That was all if you will excuse me I'm needed back at our manor. Thank you for meeting with me, if you need it those are the antidote to the poison she's been using. If you wish to get in contact with your heir  I might have better luck."

They stood, Orion, slipping the vials into his suit pocket.
He opened the door letting her step-through first.
They walked all the way back to the fireplace, she could have made it herself but she guessed he wanted to talk to his son.

"Regulus, do you know where I could find your mother?"

"I believe she went out shopping."

"Best of luck, Lord Black."

"Thank you, heir Gaunt, if you need anything the house of Black will be on your side."

She nodded taking a step back into the fireplace leaving the two alone.
She appeared in the busy streets of Hogsmaid pulling the hood of her cloak up. She scanned the crowd as she walked searching for a pair of familiar grey eyes and wavy brown hair.

She found him in front of an ice cream shop with two other boys. He looked over at the right moment, the smile on his face dropped slightly as she nodded into the alley beside her and stepped into it. It took a couple of seconds before he joined her.
He took her by the arm leading them both to a darker part of the ally.

"Your alright..."

Her cloak disappeared.

"I'm not dead."
His hand ghosted over the scars on her neck.
"Keev... What did he do?"

"I yelled at him, left and had a day and a half of freedom before Greyback got sent after me."

"He used Greyback?"

"Scars go all the way down to my last rib and refuse to heal properly."

They stood in silence for a moment, Sirius carefully tracing the scars.

"I visited your father and Regie, I think he plans on kicking your mother out."

"Really?"

"A few memories and carefully placed words and you can get them to do anything. Lord's like that are all the same, scared little boys who will do anything for their survival. I recommend you send him a letter stating your terms, you have been trained for this lordship and I would take it when the chance comes. You don't even have to go back to living with them full time."

"How was Reg?"

She crossed her arms. Ignoring her advice was the game they were playing and she would happily do so at the moment. He didn't like talking about his family and she rather not have him annoyed.

"Tired and worried. She burned you completely out of the tapestry but you haven't been disowned. Regulus- he's not prepared for a entire heirship, he has become comfortable living in your shadow. He does not have the spine that you have. "

A sharp pain shot through her arm, she instantly looked down at it, causing his hand to fall before looking back up a slight panic in her eyes.

"Fuck, I have to go-" she swung her arms around him, holding on a bit too tight.

"Try not to get yourself killed, " he pulled away

"I'll try if you think about what I said. You as Lord Black could really help in the future."

He smiled.
"Help you in the future."

"Exactly my point."
