Hyuck's jaw clenched the moment his eyes met Soobin's smug smile. He was far away from the boy but both had intense gaze on each other, hating the fact they are finally meeting back on track after their fistfight on the last day of high school, all just because of one girl- Jieun.
Unfortunately, he wasn't that strong compared to Soobin, resulting in him having cuts and bruises here and there.
And that's why he got even tenser that night, he might not be good at fist-fighting but he sure was good in his car. He had the confidence.
Jieun came right up to him, coyly smiling as she wraps her arms around him. He shuddered at the touch, he thought he was in heaven and the girl was his angel.
She offered him a drink and he gladly took it, feeling a bit thirsty from inhaling the car smoke. Hyuck frowned at the peculiar taste of the drink but shrugged when Jieun whispered right into his ears. "Prove me you aren't that weak, baby boy,"
He smirked, "Course, noona."
As soon as Taeyong gave the signal to both of them, they got in their respective cars, pulling right at the starting line.
Hyuck looked at the sky above him, it started to drizzle and his heart pounded. He wouldn't usually race when it's going to rain, his mother will get mad if she knows but he can't back down either.
Taeyong came by the rolled down window of Hyuck's car, wanting to wish him good luck. The smile on Taeyong's face faded when he pointed at Hyuck's bloodshot eyes.
"Bro, are you sleepy or something?"
He didn't want to admit that he did feel lightheaded. He knew Taeyong would surely force him to step down. He fiddled with his necklace, hoping somehow it'll give him energy.
"No, Just got some dust in my eyes earlier. I'm fine," He said, stifling his yawn. Taeyong tilted his head, doubting the boy. "You know you can always postpone the race right?"
He knows. Of course, he knows, but he wouldn't let Soobin have the reason to make fun of him again.
It's not the matter who'll win Jieun's heart anymore, it's the matter of his pride.
Yuta raised the green flag, both starting to rev their engine, hands tight on the steering wheel. Hyuck held his breath for some moment, containing his own excitement over hearing the spectators cheering loudly for him.
