A few cautions for the wandering traveler to my stories.
1. This is a sequel to both Episode IX The Legacy of the Sith and The Final Bounty. I try to include relevant information from those fanfictions into the narrative as a reminder to my readers because I know how easy it is to forget important details from one book to another. If you have not read the earlier books, all important information from those will be in here, but there is something to be said about experiencing the story in order.
2. Having said that, this story is part of an alternate universe that began in February 2016 with Book 1--Episode VIII Rise of the Dark Jedi. Upon the release of The Last Jedi and Rebels Season 4, this story and all books in this series became AU. Up to that point, every book in this series is as close as possible to being consistent with Disney-sanctioned-media--that means every Disney book, movie, show, and comic up to December 2017 had been read and researched for these stories.
3. Videsse Otlell (Patch) is back in this story. It was originally intended to be a simple continuation of the Dark Bounty storyline, but as the outline developed it became clear to me that this story had wider galactic ramifications and so, in its final form it serves as the link between the Ben Solo/Rey Skywalker story arc and the Videsse Otlell narrative. Thus, it begins a new trilogy with new developments of the Force, new villains, new heroes, but still an old spirit--perhaps literally.
4. A warning about the narrative voice of this book: Like my last two books, this is a genre piece and because of that I have chosen a very different narrative voice--one that may be quite jarring at first. It is meant to imitate Nathaniel Hawthorne's The House of the Seven Gables. And as you will see, it is perfect for the genre that this book is... but I will leave you to figure out exactly what kind of story this is... tee hee.
